House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Monday invited President Trump to deliver the State of the Union address on February 5.

The invitation from Pelosi comes after a planned January 29 date to give the address was scuttled due to the partial government shutdown. That led to a contentious back-and-forth between Trump and the House speaker before the president announced a deal to reopen the government on January 25.

"When I wrote to you on January 23rd, I stated that we should work together to find a mutually agreeable date when government has reopened to schedule this year's State of the Union address," Pelosi  wrote in her new invitation to Trump. "In our conversation today, we agreed on February 5th.

"Therefore, I invite you to deliver your State of the Union address before a Joint Session of Congress on February 5, 2019 in the House Chamber."

Shortly after receiving the invite, the president accepted.

"Thank you for your letter inviting me to deliver the State of the Union Address before a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, February 5, 2019," Trump wrote in reply. "It is my great honor to accept. We have a great story to tell and yet, great goals to achieve.

"I look forward to seeing you on the 5th."

I would say Trump would like looking  at the Dem's faces when giving the SOTU.  Also he would be happy if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would lose it again.  Then there always will Ruth Bader Ginsburg be there and if not why not?

I would LOVE to see Trump announce at the conclusion of the speech:

"  US Troops are moving into place to secure the border and the Army corps of Engineers is erecting barriers, those troops will remain on the border as long as I am President. Thank you and goodnight."

Really, Trump's speech will underscore nothing but good news, by comparison to the last 8 years of the Marxist, the news will be terribly damning for Marxist Dim policy, Trump will prove they're trying to destroy the country.
RGB would be the perfect excuse to not talk about Trump's accomplishment.

Don't know, I think one of the dims biggest nightmares will be the demise of rbg. I think the left would gladly give Trump the wall and anything else if it could let rbg live for another seven years. I can see upon her death, nothing will matter to the liberals but blocking Trump's nomination to the court and that includes liberal senators. Going to be real interesting to see liberals turn on each other when they fail to block Trumps choice.

My point was, that maybe the left is holding releasing her death till after the SOTU so they can bury it and focus praise on the commie instead.
She is dead, just on life support until they need her.
These scum would do that, pull a Weekend at Bernies if it can keep the country from focusing on all the accomplishments of the trump administration.

Yep, holding the Ace, or in this case, the Trump card.
I think they will give Trump's SOTU one day of clear airspace on the 6th, then release RGB on Thursday the 7th and take it through the weekend, just long enough to bury all the great news.
Just my best guess based on their track record. Hell, they may do it during the speech for all I know, but I do think that is the plan, but I could be wrong.

Ya'll bring up a good point. The Dims backed the wall during BOs reign. I'm guessing they'll try to negotiate the wall for a mutual centrist SCOTUS choice, read joint choice of a CINO (conservative in name only). I think he's feeling a lot of pressure to deliver on the wall. Hope he doesn't negotiate a SCOTUS choice - would be like trading a queen for a knight in chess.
