"We're back in business," Peter Davidson, executive director of the department's loan programs office, told Reuters. "We really want to go back to ... doing very valuable work for our economy going forward."

Obama's controversial DOE green energy loan program sparked a firestorm when Government Accountability Institute (GAI) President Peter Schweizer revealed that 80% of all $20.5 billion in DOE loans were given to Obama's top campaign donors. In his New York Times bestseller Throw Them All Out, Schweizer called the Obama green energy loan slush fund "the greatest--and most expensive--example of crony capitalism in American history."

Why the timing still isn't right;

Theoretically, Americans were assured that a solar-panel would cost around- say $37.50...
It quickly became apparent that a solar-panel would cost close to $119.75...

You don't rush to put a square-peg in a round-hole, in a free-market environment.

Those are the first-2 reasons why Solyndra failed.  The entire list is here:

Even had it survived through welfare, eventually it would have collapsed under the weight of litigation.
The product was a complete failure and scam, it only worked in a controlled environment, but in real world application, it was pure crap.
I feel sorry for the fools that bought it, but then, most likely it was only libs willing to support big govts lunacy.

Great link by the way.

Speaking of coincidences doesn't the timing of this and the attack on the Bundy ranch raise an eyebrow?

The Delorean Paradox (Americans couldn't fully open the doors to a Delorean-automobile while parked inside a typical American garage)...  Solar-panels for the American home will be blocked by trees on neighbors' private-property, in many cases.

That's a recipe for domestic litigation on a massive-scale.

I blame this on the GOP.  The only reason this happens is because they believe they can get away with it.

The house up the road here is having solar panels installed. There is a big box in the drive that reads "26 panels". This should be interesting...

I'll look again tomorrow but is was something like that. it was a large box with some tubing or scaffolding like polls laying on top. I know little about solar power but I would think the company that delivered the system would not want all of it sitting in a large cardboard box in the rain for a week...

I wasn't laughing at you, it's the gullible out there that don't do the research on anything, like buying a car, you don't base it on it's color or a commercial convincing you'll be a babe magnet if you own one...
Wait, lib just came to mind...

The only panels I know of on the mkt that small are pure crap, can't remember the name, but they approached me about a partnership, I openly laughed at them and said the only way you'll fool someone into buying them is if the Govt subsidizes you, and Freakin low and behold, they did exactly that.

We're not expecting perfection.  -Just minimal corruption.

Subsidies are like paying Norman Mailer advanced royalties... to pen a 600-page flop like Ancient Evenings

Solyndra had one chance to deliver what the people wanted.  They blew it.  Blitz dem...
