So where do you stand on this?

A fact that seems to slip through the cracks when security matters are discussed....

Racial profiling is not against the law. It is unpopular with a lot of folks who find themselves in a group that profiling may target, but it ain't illegal.

I'd go further to say that racial profiling, in the case of protecting commercial airliners, is incredibly sensible and certainly practical. As far as I can recall, every hijacker or bomber since D. B. Cooper -- a thief and amateur skydiver who jumped out of his plane nearly 40 years ago -- has been a young male Muslim of Arab descent. Why the hell are we scanning Granny?

The fear and hype over racial profiling is nothing more than a variation of the age-old "victim" culture promoted so successfully by the Democrats. Arizona is taking lumps over the same issue, but the fact is they're overrun with MEXICANS. There ain't no flood of illegal Swedes or Ethiopians or Taiwanese.

Until we, as conservatives, conquer our fear of the 'profiling' charge -- and the 'race card' in general -- we'll never conquer the issues that are plaguing this country. We need folks who are honest enough, and eloquent enough, to stand up in front of God and everybody and explain these things in a forthright and fearless way.

I'm even more pissed of at the SOB's who make such things necessary....The terrorists, that is where your anger should be directed.

I agree to a point, but instead, we should be profiling.

Until you notice the 5 o'clock shadow on the 40-24-36 bombshell, groping around in your threat-level.

My question is where does this stop? Cameras in your bedroom? Embedded chips to let Big Brother always know where you are?

I don't consider any of this to be "racial" profiling.

In fact, it is not racial profiling at all.  It is CRIMINAL profiling.  Race is irrelevent, especially considering the fact that there have been a number of caucasian U.S. citizens who have decided to become terrorists.

Shooterman, if "big brother" wants to know where you are and what you are doing, they can find out ANY TIME they want.  The question is, WHY would "big brother" care about you or me or anybody else in here, and HOW could they justify the manpower to bother with you or me or Solar or Taxed or Quiller, etc., etc., etc.

In other words, Shooter, you just aren't important in the "big picture".  Neither am I.

Not the point, AF. With the technology of the Feds and the basically unlimited systems and facilities, they could track and keep a data base of everyone in this country without breaking a sweat. Maybe you're okay with that, AF, but quite frankly, it pisses the hell out of me.

It would take no manpower, BTW, simply a system and storage facilities to keep track. As of right now, the FEDS know where I live, but have no idea where I am, what I'm doing, or where I'm going. That could and may change. Is that the kind of society you wish to live in?

Maybe so, RWB, but what reference does that satellite use? Next question. Who decides the criteria as to whether I am a threat? What triggers it?

Next question. Do you approve of this shit?

Shooter, if I knew your real name, I myself could very easily find everything out about you that I wanted to know.  This is the internet age, you know.  All you can do is keep your nose clean, and don't give the government any reason to want to keep tabs on you.

My question stuill goes unanswered.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE DO NOT TAKE NECESSARY SECURITY MEASURES?

As I have stated many times, I don't like this crap any more than you folks do and I fly a lot but I understand what will likely happen if we do not take such precautions...that makes me hate terrorists and their ilk so much more.

Billy, your question is a VERY valid one.  Sometimes the idealisms of the left, or the right, clouds the judgment and basic common sense of people.

You're right Billy, we still need to check baggage, but we also need to be profiling.
Patting down a 90 year old woman is nothing short of embarrassing.
The terrorists look at that and know they've already won half the battle.

"Profiling" and I shudder to use that word because it is really not accurate, only works to a certain degree, remember what your are "profiling" is BEHAVIOR INDICATORS...not people, we used to do the same for drug couriers. Then the Scumbags from Columbia and other places started using "non typical" persons, infants, old women etc, even sewing drugs in dogs, birds and other animals.

That is the problem here if you "profile" someone just because they are black, yemeni etc you are not going to be as effective as if you check for the BEHAVIOR indicators, an that is everybody, these people (terrorists) aren't as stupid as we like to think, they will use Unwittings or children or old people next....

As much as we may hate it, scanners have to stay.
But they are not the only answer.
