No. Conservatives are flourishing in state and local government. This cannot be attacked from the top down.

I've been worried for a while that the loose tea party coalition wouldn't gain enough strength and traction to succeed.  We may be at that point.

The whole issue is core values and conscience vs. selfish motives, and the tea party movement may simply not be strong enough to win that battle.   There are a few reps voting their values and conscience over greed, but not nearly enough.

Rather than start another party or movement from scratch, we may be limited to throwing in with the libertarians.  I realize that true conservatism has many conflicts with true libertarianism, but it may the only viable path.

The Pauls would give a built-in base for candidates / personalities (a lot of young people like them, strangely enough), and thre's some decent media base in guys like Stossel and Dobbs.

It's all that's left, I'm afraid.  I'd rather accept some oddities like their drug legalization and laisseh-faire foreign policy, than continue down the road to RINO-fueled socialism.
One percent of anything is still considered nothing and that's all the Paulbots could garner.
Now consider these numbers and get back to me.
85 Republicans voted for the fiscal-cliff bill and 151 voted no. There were 172 Democratic yes votes, and 16 Democrats voted no.
That's nearly twice as many that voted against it. I think your report of their early demise may be a bit premature.

So how many do you think read the bill before voting?

All there doing is moving the "Fiscal Cliff" out.   That will allow b o to go back on his word as usual.   He knows the Republicans RINO's will keep caving in.

I do share some of your optimism as my home state of TN has virtually obliterated the dems in all three branches.

In only 2 or 3 elections after 150 years of dem dominance.

But yet the RINO self-serving humps still hover in crucial slots, like a virus, and the national and local dems (and the local media) are still trying to destroy dedicated tea partiers like Desjarlais.

I'm worried that some of you look at one-time, fitful successes and decide that all is good.  It's gonna take a much bigger effort, and it feels like we're coasting on our recent victories, just assuming that the always cheating dems and media are somehow easy pickin's.  That's not how it's gonna play out if we sit and wait for it to happen.

That's my only like for the libertarians.  We've got to hang our hats on something solid, rather than hope that the still-infant tea party is already a juggernaut that's gonna roll the leftists, RINO's, media, and handouts-51%.
