My Nephew said that he was in parts of Afghanistan where the Taliban took C-4 and blasted centuries old statues carved into a mountainside and monuments coz they are an insult to Allah.

The Q'uan says only Allah can make a human being, paintings, sculptures etc aren't allowed thats making a human being to them...stupid.

Good point, let the dumb bastards blow up the Pyramids, then five million visitors a year would have no reason to come to Egypt and they'd loose all that revenue and be swirling in economic chaos in a few years and have to have another arab spring to throw out the radicals.

If it weren't for oil the rest of the world would have abandoned the Middle East years ago. With advanced technology and recent discoveries of Oil and Gas damn near everywhere, I'm guessing that the rest of the world will abandon the Middle East within the next 20 years. Of course, in our country Obama and the environmentalist - who may be on the Saudi payroll - are fighting to stop oil and gas development, because it means the end of any hope of Islamic advance, and a probably a collapse back into the dark ages.

I can't say the same. It bothers me on a level I can't describe. I guess it's just the senselessness of it, combined with the fact that future generations won't be able to see them.

As a person that works with my hands, I suppose it also involves the sheer disrespect it shows toward the artisans that spent 100's of thousands of man hours on these creations...................creations that have withstood the test of time. Only to be destroyed in a minute by stupid, hateful, small minded Cretins.
