Shiva is an Indian God, one of many in the Hindu culture.
In the early 70s when he was 14 years old, he developed an interoffice digital mail system and called it email, which is why he's claiming he invented it, despite the fact it had been around long before his little program.
But to be fair, he was the first apparently to call it "Email".

As I remember we call it pinging way back when.  Now it whether there is a connection at the other end.
