Yes, you read that right. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell addressing attendees Ralph Reed's Faith and Liberty Conference, broadcast over CSPAN.  We haven't seen Mitch in this form for a long time, and I am here to tell anyone within earshot, that Mitch is back.

Back to the brilliant orator that made him what he is today, as he called for faith renewal and morality in government. He showed a side he has been keeping hidden for months, the leadership ability everyone in Washington knows he has. He praised the class of freshman Senators, calling them the smartest in ages.

No more bashing the Tea Party out loud. Instead, expressing gratitude to the rank and file for delivering this Republican majority, taking Congress out of the doldrums. He renewed his pledge of  support for the conservative cause, and showed himself, without pushing it, potentially  the greatest unifying force since Ronald Reagan.

Sorry to gush, but, needless to say, this is just what America needs.

Not an unexpected response.  Suspect that will be the general feeling here, that China Mitch can  rot in Hades.

Still, I stand by my post. I heard it with my own ears. Live and unedited; Senator McConnell rocked the house.  I wonder if I can find a recording of that, anywhere.

Anyway, Kroz, you don't like Trump, either, so what do you know?

Did I post this in religion? This is highly political in nature.

Heard tales that the Devil gives a similar speech to the new arrivals, just before he commits them to the fiery depths of Hell.
Curious, did CSPAN pan the cameras down to show his cloven feet?

I heard it on radio.

  :scared:

I smelled sulphur.  Someone two doors down was blasting away with an AR.
Thought that was what it was.  :sneaky:

I wonder if Mitch Ol'Boy touched on this Biblical gem...

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.

Or, more succinctly put, talk is cheap, actions matter!

We'll see if Mitch's conciliatory tone towards conservatives endures, or if, as suggested, he is a wolf in sheep's clothing. I think it is fair to say Mitch has been masquerading as a conservative for many years.  My instinct is that he is on the way out, so he is doing what comes naturally for one in that position; namely, wise up, lay low, and try to make the most of what he can get away with in the time remaining.
