OKLAHOMA CITY - Muslims in Oklahoma say they'll ask a federal court to overturn an amendment to the state Constitution that bars judges from considering international or Islamic law when deciding cases.



Muneer Awad, who heads the Oklahoma branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, says the amendment approved Tuesday by 70 percent of voters violates the U.S. Constitution.
Republican Rex Duncan, the sponsor of the measure, called it a "pre-emptive strike" designed to close the door on activist judges. But Awad says it reflects anti-Muslim prejudice and would prevent judges from giving due consideration to treaties endorsed by the U.S. Congress.

CAIR and other Muslim and civil liberties groups have scheduled a news conference Thursday to announce a legal challenge to the amendment.

It's amazing it even needed spelling out for the judges.
One would think that the Constitution is all the guidance needed, not to mention the law, by which all cases are decided.

If the Muslims in Oklahoma want their Islamic Law recognized, then get the hell out of my country and move back to your tents in Saudi Arabia! 

We don't hang or stone women to death for committing adultery or for being raped.  We don't cut off people's hands for stealing.  We don't circumsize women.  We don't do "honor killings".  We don't kill our children because we believe they are being corrupted by other cultures.  We don't blow up nightclubs and markets and airplanes in the name of a religion.

This is the United States, Ahmed and Abdul.  We have the U.S. Constitution and our own laws.  If you don't LIKE this system and don't like OUR laws, then GET THE FUCK OUT!

They don't quite get it, government  can neither make or support laws concerning religion. And sharia law is based on religion. So until there is a change in the constitution, they are SOL.

It's for this reason I truly believe it should lose the protection of the st Amendment, it is more than a Religion, it is a political system.

Oh it is a bit more than that, remember yours truly has had some tenure in Muslim lands. It would circumvent our entire Criminal Justice system, which is already circumvented enough.

A CLERIC DECIDES GUILT OR INNOCENCE, some of that decision is based on what he might consider the adherence of the accused to the five pillars of Islam...ie: do your regularly give alms? Have you made the Hadj? (why not?)there is NO Jury, No appeal and No uniformity case law, only what the cleric gets from the Q'uran.
