Solar,
As you well know, the Greeks and Romans accepted dissent
in politics but refused to tolerate insubordination which they
dealt with, to their credit, harshly and quickly.
We moderns, enamored of piety and sanctimony in politics,
think any/ every idea/opinion has merit; the fantasy that
reverberates 24/7/365 in the US Senate.
To think, we used to have duels to settle these matters.
Would it be too much to ask, that our so-called Representatives take up a long-held tradition of settling matters on the green at 20 paces?

Make that 10 paces, we don't need them missing.

Better yet, a fully armed audience gives them a headstart of 20 paces before we open fire.

Apparently Trump met with Judge Raymond Kethledge and they really hit it off.

Apparently Trump met with Judge Raymond Kethledge and they really hit it off.

SCOTUS Frontrunner Raymond Kethledge’s Record Reveals Immigration Weakness

Quote
Since President George W. Bush appointed Kethledge to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, he has consistently demonstrated interpretations of immigration law at odds with the conservative wing of the Supreme Court and, more broadly, the notion that American immigration laws exist for the benefit of Americans. He has also shown a willingness to inject his own sympathies with the plight of illegal aliens facing deportation into his opinions.

In 2013, for example, Kethledge sided with an illegal alien who overstayed a tourist visa and then spent the next ten years, while in the country illegally, trying to get an employment visa.

Two separate employers filed paperwork that would have allowed the Indian national to remain in the United States, and both times the applications were denied when U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) found the jobs to be bogus.

Kethledge ruled, over a dissent by a Bill Clinton-appointed judge, that the alien himself had a right to challenge the determination that the employers did not qualify to keep foreign workers in the country, rather than just the employers themselves.

Even more troubling for those who prefer an America First interpretation of immigration law, Kethledge’s opinion in Patel v. USCIS expressly rejected the government’s contention that the sole purpose of those laws is to protect American workers and benefit American businesses that need foreign labor in qualifying circumstances where they cannot find Americans.

“One can speculate that Congress meant to exclude certain aliens to protect American workers, and admit other, ‘qualified’ aliens to help American employers,” Kethledge wrote. “But there is no basis in the text of the statute—none—to conclude that Congress was completely indifferent to the interests of the ‘qualified immigrants’ themselves.”

LOL! He's a no go.

He also clerked for the outgoing Kennedy!

Still have my fingers crossed for the Indian, Amul Thapar or Amy Barrett.

Yeah, I'm a bit concerned. Trump is good at playing chess. I think he wants to keep Lee in congress because why risk losing a seat? So it's back to Barrett whom the democrats will try to Bork more than any other nominee and Kavanaugh. kethledge could be a problem.

Here is something very interesting that you guys might wanna keep an eye on. Brett Kavanaugh was part of the Vince Forster suicide investigation. I wonder if he is nominated will the panel ask questions about the Vince Foster suicide case.

Guess what this de-classified document leans in the direction that Vince Forster did not commit suicide.

According to the NYT Kethledge is almost a non starter.

Ya gotta love the irony here. Last week the Dims were all up in arms about separating illegal children from their alleged families, and this week, they're panty bunched over the right to kill children.
But that aside, note how McCON-nel is trying to get a moderate seated.

Senator Mitch McConnell, the top Senate Republican, has cautioned Mr. Trump that Judge Hardiman and Judge Kethledge would be the safest picks in terms of Senate confirmation, a process that may have to take place without any Democratic support.

McConnel is worried about Collins and Murkowski. I wish they'd just change parties already.
