QuoteDES MOINES, Iowa — Scott Walker's stock is soaring after a triumphant return to Iowa.

The Wisconsin Republican governor delivered a pitch-perfect speech to a room packed with influential Hawkeye State conservatives on Saturday, walking them through his robust resume and ideology with a passion that surprised many.

Activists say Walker came out on top after 10 hours of candidate speeches.

"It was a clear Walker victory. He had expectations coming in here, he was on everyone's shortlist and he had to meet those expectations and I thought he far exceeded them," said former Iowa Republican Party political director Craig Robinson. "I thought his speech was just perfect, and I thought his delivery was perfect. The delivery really surprised me."
Walker held his own against Ted Cruz, the event's other star. While the Texas senator always turns in commanding performances with conservative crowds, the governor next door helped himself the most by making a strong first impression with many Iowa activists who simply knew him from his showdown with the unions.

He offered something for almost every type of conservative, rolling through his record of both social and fiscal accomplishments, drawing big applause by knocking "radical Islamic terrorists" and touting legislation he backed to relax gun control laws and cut taxes.

He spoke about his faith in a natural way, and in one sentence managed to mention that he was both the son of a pastor and had Iowa roots (Walker spent his early years in the state before his dad moved to a church in Wisconsin).

Most importantly, he did it all with a folksy yet fiery delivery that had observers gushing and brought the crowd to their feet.

Watch this guy pull away from the pack soon! I listened to his speech and he is definitely a principled uniter that can pull this party together!

I am glad see Walker getting some attention. The more people learn about him, the more they will like him. As I have posted, he has been tested. He took on the unions three times and won while depleting their bank accounts. He cannot be "Palined" because the dem/lib/unions have used all the ammunition on him already.

Our party needs to unite! It is to soon to put it all behind one person but we really need to reduce this field fast to say 3 or a maximum of 4 that cover "all" views of the party and let's have a real primary season. The field is too cluttered and seems to be growing daily

Agreed. We need to find one true conservative and not have big rock fight between the conservative candidates. I could care less if Jeb, Christie and Romney fight over the establishment money as long as possible.

Jeb's to middle of the road for me but don't make the mistake of underestimating him either. He was a well liked governor here in Florida. He was defiantly more conservative then George ever was. If it wasn't for his backing of amnesty and his wishy washy support for boarder security he would find a lot of conservative support. He is to the right wing of the RINO opposition!!

Do you think  it's a plus or a minus that Gov. Walker doesn't have a college degree.  With the shit they indoctrinate college kids with, it's probably to his credit that he dropped out...BUT the Lame Steam Media are going to arrogantly brand him as being somehow not equal to any of the others....

And that could work for him with the American people! A lot of good people in this country do not have advanced degrees and can't stand some of the people who do that attempt to look down their nose at the average guy. Walker may be just the guy that can reach across all the barriers including education!
A good example is Al Gore that had an Ivy league education, Or Kerry, How many people agree with them? Bill Bennett recently has been Questioning the cost and effect of higher education and it's true worth! Walker could be the one to show how overrated it really is! He is one bright guy!!

Steve Jobs and Bill Gates both dropped out of college.  Walker dropped out of college and went to work for IBM.  My point was that the Liberal Media is bound to make as much out of this difference between Scott Walker and virtually anyone who has run for POTUS in at least the last fifty years.

How big a problem is it really?  It's not a problem (and probably and asset) How big a problem is it politicly?  It may be huge!  They certainly will try to make a big deal out of it.
