Scientists: Orbital Variations Main Cause of Climate Change

QuoteGlobal warming theorists have taken yet another hit with a new study out of Denmark which demonstrates that variations in Earth's orbit are the primary causes of climate change, and have been for at least the last 1.4 billion years.

Scientists from the University of Southern Denmark and the China National Petroleum Corporation investigated marine sediment from the Xiamaling Formation in China and determined that the sediment shows evidence that "the same orbital forcing that caused the climate to change 1.4 billion years ago is the underlying force behind global warming today," the Daily Caller reports.

The research, published in PNAS, states: "There is a wealth of evidence pointing to dramatic short-term climate change on Earth over the last few million years. Much of this climate change is driven by variations of Earth's orbit around the Sun with characteristic frequencies known as Milankovitch cycles."

Milankovitch cycles are fluctuations which occur in Earth's orbit every 20,000, 40,000 and 100,000 years, which bring about an ice age every 100,000 years or so. Currently, Earth is in the middle of a warming period, and has been for the last 11,000 years, Dr.  Donald Canfield, professor at the Nordic Center for Earth Evolution at the university and one of the principle researchers, said, the Daily Caller reported

I suppose any day now we'll see video of Michael Mann, Al Gore, and James Hansen doing their versions of "Aw, shucks, we was just kiddin'."

Imagine that. The warmies never took into consideration something most of us learned in science class as kids, that the planet fluctuates, as in a giant water balloon that was lightly tapped, as my teacher described in in 1967.

All this time, the warmies ignored insignificant data such as the effect the sun plays on the atmosphere and orbit, something that wouldn't exist without the sun.

But don't worry, obviously there are enough of the ignorant willing to throw blind faith to the wind where helping commies destroy Western culture is the Koolaid drink of the day.

AGW ignores more science than it claims, all the while calling skeptics as "science deniers". They ignore the fact that the Earth has gone through multiple cycles between warm and cold, even while using the cycles to "prove" CO2 is harmful. They ignore the fact that even their own lauded data shows CO2 increases always show up after a temperature increase, completely ignoring the basic principle of all science that effect cannot precede cause. They ignore the fact that the ice core data they love to parade is limited to 600,000 years, which is but an eyeblink in terms of geology. They ignore the fact that for the vast majority of the lifespan of this planet, the climate has been much warmer on average. They ignore the fact that every planetary climate model which uses CO2 as a climate driver the levels of CO2 are 10-20 times higher than even their most pessimistic forecasts of CO2 buildup before CO2 shows a significant impact on atmospheric heat retention. They love to point at Venus as their example of runaway greenhouse effect, while ignoring that Venus' atmosphere is 96% CO2, while the Earth's is around .04%. And, most recently, they have made a concerted effort in ignoring the fact that EVERY SINGLE PREDICTION set out by their AGW climate models have failed to even come close to actual events.

But, despite all the ignored science, despite all the repeated utter failures of their hypotheses to predict climatological behavior, despite all scientific evidence contrary to their pet theory, they still cling to the claim that it is the skeptics who deny real science. Sometimes it is truly pathetic the manner in which humanist progressives cling to their lies.

What is even sadder, is the fact that there are enough ignorant people to believe their agenda, though that appears to be changing dramatically.
It's interesting how the left would use their base in pushing this agenda, when most libs care about nothing but the moment, they are the antithesis of Statesman, so to think for one minute they would care about a "claimed" 2 deg. rise in a couple of centuries is simply laughable.

I believe it was this little reality that began turning them off to the idea that what they had been told about seas rising, wasn't going to happen in their lifetime, or their great grand kids time.
Basically, many realized they were being lied to.

II think this BS will come to an end in 2017..

Yeah, some states will keep the lie alive for the revenue, but a Conservative POTUS will gut the EPA's ability to enforce it.

EPA, fine. Now, what about NASA, NOAA, HUD, DOEnergy, DOEducation, FWS, Interior, BuRec, TVA, NPS, USACOE, and all the rest who have signed onto the global warming bandwagon? I think it'll take more than a couple quick swipes with a broom.

In it's orbit around the sun yes it does. Thanks to the pull of the other planets, like Jupiter, Neptune, and Saturn who have moons almost as big as the Earth.

That said I've said for years now, that the sun plays a bigger role in that cycle than these "scientists who have reached consensus" give credit/due diligence too.

For years now, all the while screaming at us about "consensus" (which is NOT science or the scientific methodology) many of these same leftist "scientists" have ignored, completely, the role of the solar system, and it's affects on our planet.

Fwiw I say these scientists who signed off on "consensus" should be barred from scientific research, as well as teaching positions. Why is that? Because in signing off on their little "consensus" letters, they've publicly admitted too throwing away the true, recognized, long practiced scientific method, in favor of a return to the times when the "consensus" was that the Earth was flat, and if you sailed too far west you'd sail off the planet. Great post btw red
