The cynic in me says he's doing this for financial reasons but I'll take it.

Quite frankly, SA doing things for financial reasons is not bad.

In Shocking Purge, Saudi King Arrests Billionaire Prince Bin Talal, Dozens Of Others In Cabinet Crackdown

In a shocking development, Saudi press Al Mayadeen reported late on Saturday that prominent billionaire, member of the royal Saudi family, and one of the biggest shareholders of Citi, News Corp. and Twitter - not to mention frequent CNBC guest - Al-Waleed bin Talal, along with ten senior princes, and some 38 ministers, has been arrested for corruption and money laundering charges on orders from the new anti-corruption committee headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, while Royal princes' private planes have been grounded.

Among those fired and/or arrested are the head of National Royal Guards, Miteb Bin Abdullah, the Minister of Economy and Planning, Adel Fakeih, and Admiral Abdullah bin Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Sultan, the Commander of the Saudi Naval Forces.

I'm wondering if this isn't some sort of crackdown on terror financing that certain members of the House of Suad have engaged in over the years. I think this AL Waleed was also a big supporter of Obamao and a Hillary donor as well.
Maybe the King has decided that since Trump has his back it is time to kick a little ass and take some names.

We probably will never know the reasons behind BUT one thing is certain and proven over the years, DO NOT TRUST THE SAUDIS.

"DO NOT TRUST THE SAUDIS."

No truer words have ever been spoken. No one in the ME but the Israeli's can be trusted. Any alliances are alliances of convenience and they are all temporary.

Hit the nail on the head again. Guessing here that obama did so much for iran that saudi is getting nervous and would like to get in good graces. (at least for the time being)

I think you need to put this in perspective, this Prince is a serious reformer. We could actually see an end to Wahabi terrorists coming out of the M/E because of this guy.
Keep in mind, this has been coming to a head during most of the 20th century, only to boil over under the Marxists admin, and now this mess is involving the podesta's corruption as well as the Clinton campaign/DNC.

Once again, people, myself included, underestimated Trump's business savvy ways, and decided that what was best for the US, was to side with this reformer.
You are correct in not wanting to trust Saudis, but I believe this Prince may be the real deal in wanting to end the corruption in his country and become one of our biggest allies to date.

Time will tell, but I actually trust Trump's judgment here.

Case in point. Just try searching google for good news regarding Trump's meeting with the Saudi Prince, and all you'll get is a bunch of doom and gloom, as well as snide BS claiming that Trump, (___________________) fill in the blank.
However, if you look at other press around the globe you'll  find quite the opposite.

The biggest threat from the Wahabbi's is to the House of Saud. The terror threat from within Saudi Arabia has always been ULTIMATELY to Saudi Arabia. This was the deal with Usama Bin Laudin, he wanted to overthrow the house of Saud. This is looking more and more like anti coup-coup, there is some evidence that there was a "missile launch" today possibly backed by Iran..........?

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/06/world/middleeast/yemen-saudi-iran-missile.html

I have said this time and time again, the greatest threat to the other Gulf states is Iran, Israel is a faint, they intent to have Mecca and Medina to complete their take over and total control of Islam.

I think perhaps this "deal" was worked out when Trump made his first visit to SA for his first visit and started talking about "terrorism".  And No this doesn't earn our trust, but it may be that they are upholding their end of a deal.

Yep, it was fired by the Houthi tribe from Iran.
I do see this as a war on the Wahabi power base, I just hope beyond hope the Prince succeeds, even the people are behind his purge of the elites in the country, so he has the people on his side, a people that are sick of being suppressed by the religious police.

It seems this prince understands Wahabi philosophy cannot mesh with free market ideals. The Saudis enjoy the benefits of their economy.

Nor is it good for tourism. Some poor guy does something they had no idea was against religious tolerance and winds up in jail.
The Prince wants to allow women the right to drive, talk to men, etc, things are changing really fast, and this is good all the way around.
