Frightening Quotes from Environmentalists
(Attack Of The Socialist-Luddites)

What we've got to do in energy conservation is try to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, to have approached global warming as if it is real means energy conservation, so we will be doing the right thing anyway in terms of economic policy and environmental policy.

—Timothy Wirth, former U.S. Senator (D-Colorado)

The right to have children should be a marketable commodity, bought and traded by individuals but absolutely limited by the state.

—Kenneth Boulding, originator of the "Spaceship Earth"
concept (as quoted by William Tucker in Progress and Privilege, 1982)

We have wished, we ecofreaks, for a disaster or for a social change to come and bomb us into Stone Age, where we might live like Indians in our valley, with our localism, our appropriate technology, our gardens, our homemade religion—guilt-free at last!

—Stewart Brand (writing in the Whole Earth Catalogue).

Free Enterprise really means rich people get richer. They have the freedom to exploit and psychologically rape their fellow human beings in the process.... Capitalism is destroying the earth.

—Helen Caldicott, Union of Concerned Scientists

We must make this an insecure and inhospitable place for capitalists and their projects.... We must reclaim the roads and plowed land, halt dam construction, tear down existing dams, free shackled rivers and return to wilderness millions of tens of millions of acres of presently settled land.

—David Foreman, Earth First!

Everything we have developed over the last 100 years should be destroyed.

—Pentti Linkola

If you ask me, it'd be a little short of disastrous for us to discover a source of clean, cheap, abundant energy because of what we would do with it. We ought to be looking for energy sources that are adequate for our needs, but that won't give us the excesses of concentrated energy with which we could do mischief to the earth or to each other.

—Amory Lovins in The Mother Earth–Plowboy Interview, Nov/Dec 1977, p.22

The only real good technology is no technology at all. Technology is taxation without representation, imposed by our elitist species (man) upon the rest of the natural world.

—John Shuttleworth

You know how I hate bumping underperforming threads, but this one deserves to see the light of day once again.
This proves that it matters not the lie, it's the end to a means that counts.

If we reverted to the pristine, destroyed the progress and technology of the past 100 years. These people would be the first to get wiped out.

Good lord. This sounds like it came out of Mao's little red book. Contemporary people such as Bill Nye the pretend science guy talk about population control.

People sleep peacefully at night because there are a few tough men prepared to do violence on their behalf.

A wise man uses it to scratch his balls.

The Ecofreaks want YOU to go back to primitive living, while they continue to live in modern luxury.

Bernie Sanders decrys the rich fat-cats - the guy who has two houses, a "lake house"... a luxury I'll never afford - he'll be enjoying this summer in the sunshine while we sweat it out working.

While in a conversation with a Russian exchange student, she was astonished we owned a "boat with a motor".
21' with an inboard/outboard motor - not a dingy.   It was over 25years old, but that didn't matter, "Are you RICH!?!?"      ...hardly!   "You own a truck!?!?"  (it could have been anything that moved independently)

I was astonished to hear she taught school 6 days a week, Sunday thru Friday, and by some bit of -luck- she didn't have any classes assigned on Saturday, so she was free to stand in line at the market to buy vegetables for the weekEverything she did was for the benefit of someone else, unless it was stealing potatoes she was required to help manually harvest, a week each year, on the collective farm.

Bernie Sanders is a very wealthy capitalist -liar-, IMO.

That kind of dream -utopia- is not for me.

Ecology and liberals. Goes together like bacon and...just about anything. Doesn't matter if it's junk science, it's THEIR religion. Fanatics babbling incantations at gods who will not listen.

People scrambling to produce the Very Best Ideas about replacing fossil fuels, so they build nuke plants like Fermi II which nearly melted down and destroyed my home state of Michigan. Maybe there's been a disaster averted in YOUR area as well.

They don't even both to think far enough ahead about waste disposal: they just don't want it where millions of dollars has already been spent to house it there, all because a POS named Harry Reid said they couldn't.

So now comes the Canadian side of this, where some morons up their way decided that building a nuke plant (CORRECTION: ) waste storage facility one kilometer from Lake Superior would be terrific idea. And here's the uncommon sensible liberal trying to stop them....

QuoteFollowing last month's budget reversal by U.S. federal legislators — including the restoration of US$300 million in funding to support Great Lakes issues and research — Masse said it would be "a great opportunity" for the Canadian government "to reward" the gesture by rejecting the nuclear waste plan.

Ontario Power Generation has proposed to bury nuclear waste at the Bruce Nuclear Site near Kincardine — just over a kilometre away from Lake Huron.

The plan has triggered fears that, over time, a leak might develop and seriously impact the Great Lakes — the largest body of freshwater in the world and a source of drinking water for millions on both sides of the border.

U.S. federal and state legislators have been especially critical of the plan and more than 200 municipalities on both sides of the border have also expressed opposition, Masse said.

Masse (NDP—Windsor West) is a member of the Canada/U.S. inter-Parliamentary Group and is the NDP's federal caucus critic for the Canada-U.S. border.
