"Scalise did not, in fact, whip the compromise legislation today, and he does not intend to whip any immigration bill unless it has the support of President Trump," Scalise spokeswoman Lauren Fine told Breitbart News. "He will not support immigration legislation that the president opposes."

Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy's office continues to decline to answer whether he will stand with President Trump or with lame duck Paul Ryan's amnesty plan. But now, it is clear the House GOP leadership team is divided, as Ryan is the only member of the leadership team on record in favor of this amnesty plan the speaker put forward, all as President Trump came out in strong opposition to it on Friday morning.

Trump, on Fox and Friends, said that he "certainly wouldn't sign" the lame duck Ryan's amnesty bill if it ever made it to his desk.

Scalise's opposition to the Ryan bill, his office confirmed, is predicated on the fact that President Trump opposes it. If that somehow changes, Scalise's position could change. But, Scalise himself told Breitbart News he stands with the president.

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) told Breitbart News Tonight earlier this week that House Republicans are considering forcibly removing House Speaker Paul Ryan from the speakership via a "motion to vacate the chair" over Ryan's efforts to undermine President Donald Trump's agenda.
"It's kind of odd that he has as much power as he has," King said of Ryan during the appearance on SiriusXM 125 the Patriot Channel with Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak on Breitbart News Tonight earlier this week. "But I do predict, and it is happening, that that power is diminishing. I also have got information that there are–I'll say 'members'–I say that plurally, with knowledge, that are considering introducing a motion to vacate the chair. If they do that, that will throw this place into a tizzy and force the kind of election for a Speaker that may bring out someone who is a lot stronger on this."

A motion to vacate the chair would call a referendum on Ryan's speakership to the floor. It could force a vote on whether Republicans want Ryan to remain as speaker as a lame duck for the rest of the year, especially after all these failures in strategy and his efforts to undermine the president with an amnesty bill that the president opposes and said he "certainly" would never sign.

Ryan claimed, falsely, to House Republican members recently in a conference meeting that the president did support the Ryan amnesty bill–something the president confirmed on Fox and Friends on Friday morning was not true. The president opposes the bill and Ryan's continued claims that Trump did back the bill are now proven to be false.

There have been conflicting reports. There was a report that the White House said it supported Ryan's bill. That has now vanished.

It looks like Trump was counting on it not passing the House, but later clarified his stance.

Speaker Ryan is expected to call a vote on both bills next week, although neither of them is likely to earn enough of the 218 Republican votes needed to pass the House.

Yeah, it's basically procedural thing.  The democrats are pushing back hard on immigration but the voters are on Trump's side.

Thats why Trump said he would support it.....he knows its DOA....Trump plays with them like that as he has done before.

Yep, he gets people all up in a tizzy with his comments, but it's his actions that that count.
Remember bumpstocks, where he said he'd deal with it? Still not one piece of legislation on that, but people were all upset over his comment.
