In recent years, Putin's navy has pursued a more aggressive strategy than even during the Cold War, Murphy said. "Russian submarines have been pushing out to the very precipice of NATO-ally waters," he said. "We have seen Russian boats coming closer to the U.S. and to our European partner ports than ever before, in immensely provocative ways — in ways that were rare even during the days of the Cold War."

Billy's bayonet

I wonder if they have three of them like they do Russian ships? That way when one Russian built piece of crap breaks down the other two take turns towing it, until one or both break down.....of course you can't do that with Subs...I seem to recall one or two that 'broke down' and sunk somewhere off the Oregon Alaska coast back in the 1970's.....it was an almost yearly occurrence, problem was they were full of nukes.  Any of you ex squids remember that?

I can say more:  Look how 'dangerously close'  to US military bases they put their country!  In other words -"Give us more money for the militaru budget. And we need real money, not the pathetic crumbs they give us to fight towelheads, and real money will give us  "The Russian scare"!

Kalash, you know you really shouldn't confuse the wisdom of keeping an eye on what aggressive nations are doing with their military assets, near ours.

And "scare".

Keeping an eye on what they're up too.

Is how you prevent accidental wars from happening.

One of every five Americans you meet has a mental illness of some sort. Many, many, of our veteran's suffer from mental illness like PTSD now also. Help if ya can. :) http://www.projectsemicolon.org/share-your-story.html
And no you won't find my "story" there. They don't allow science fiction. :)

I would aggree, but two points 1. US military budget = equal military budget of 14 countries that follows US in this list.
2. National debt is... how much is it now... 19-20 trillions?
Still not enough money?

I wonder how those budgets would compare
if the following things were taken into account:

- U.S. soldiers' pay vs. free service from drafted soldiers

- wage differentials in U.S. vs. foreign arms factories

- retirees' pay in the U.S. vs. other countries

- weapon development costs paid by the U.S. military
(Do foreign military sales cover only production costs?)

- weapon development costs not paid by Russia copying our designs
(That's a HUGE savings by Russia copying U.S. aircraft!)

- U.S. spending BIG money getting small percentage increases
  in system performance
