The conversation certainly confirms my suspicions about Pence; he has no backbone and he's proving to be a RINO.

Rush Limbaugh grills Mike Pence over budget deal: 'What is the point of voting Republican?'

....' Limbaugh joined a chorus of prominent conservative media personalities in attacking the budget, which they argue is a giveaway to Democrats.

Pence defended the bill, which will fund the federal government for the next five months, calling it a "clear win for the American people" that delivers on President Donald Trump's top priority, defense spending.

"The number one priority of President Trump is to rebuild our military, to restore the arsenal of democracy," Pence said. "And I gotta tell you, to get Democrats in Washington, DC to agree to a $21 billion increase in a short-term budget bill ... it's no small accomplishment."

Pence added that the budget includes the biggest increase in border security funding in a decade and a "down payment on a border wall."

But the budget does not, in fact, include any funding for Trump's promised border wall or cuts to funding for sanctuary cities — two points Democrats are celebrating.  .........

........ "There isn't anything of the president's agenda in this budget, and people are beginning to ask, when's that gonna happen?" Limbaugh asked Pence. "If you're gonna shut it down in September, why not now? If you complain about 60 votes today, why not go budget reconciliation for 51 votes and smoke 'em?"

Limbaugh's comment referred to a pair of tweets Trump sent on Tuesday afternoon, in which the president advocated for a government shutdown when the budget deal expires next September.

It's my understanding that they need 60 votes to pass a budget today but the rules put a deadline in September for reconciliation to end and 51 votes will approve the budget in September. So this recent weak CR keeps the govt. running until the September vote when the Pubs could possibly make the move without Dim support. I hope to see Planned Parenthood to be defunded and money for the wall to be allocated (among other things) in the September budget. I think all the Pubs can get behind at least these two issues. If my understanding of the budget process is correct, I'm not sure why it's not openly discussed that the Pubs are just biding their time until September. I might be missing something regarding the reconciliation process.

You have it exactly right. No need to play the cards now and give away their plans. Just put together a budget and pass it. Then let the democrats scream. Our only concerns are will McConnell and Ryan go along and would the likes of McCain, Collins, Murkowski and Graham screw it up.

Future funding for the wall is DEAD; text in this bill eliminates future funding for building the wall. To think that all of a sudden miraculously the GOP is going to get what they want in September is ridiculous.  The more the liberals take now, the more they are going to want in the future.
