A win against McConnell and the establishment!!

Roy Moore defeats Trump-backed Luther Strange in Alabama Senate primary runoff

Former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore was projected to soundly defeat Sen. Luther Strange in a GOP primary runoff that pitted President Donald Trump against some of his most loyal supporters, including former chief strategist Steve Bannon, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and a slew of conservative members of the House of Representatives.

With 42 percent of the precincts reporting, Moore lead Strange 57 percent to 43 percent, a margin of just over 25,000 votes. State officials estimated a low turnout of between 12 and 15 percent of eligible voters.

Moore is now the favorite in December's general election against Democrat Doug Jones, a lawyer and former U.S. attorney during President Bill Clinton's administration. The winner of that race will complete the Senate term started by Attorney General Jeff Sessions and be up for re-election in 2020.

Congrats Roy Moore!  You outlasted McConnell backing the RINO to defeat you.  Now you need to outlast him again as he will back the Democrat.

Keep it up!

Trump was encouraged to pick Strange before the August primary by son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner as well as other aides, White House officials said. He was never going to endorse Alabama Republican Rep. Mo Brooks, who has at times opposed Trump's agenda, and knew little about Moore, officials said.

Trump also praised Strange onstage, but his monologue at times made clear private concerns he'd expressed to his staff, White House officials said. "I might have made a mistake," Trump told the crowd.

"He essentially thinks, 'What have I gotten myself into?'" one adviser said.

Strange has a lot of baggage. There were some questions about how he was appointed, but I do not know the details. What I do know is GOPe got its ass kicked.

If you're not under McConnell's thumb, he won't lift a finger to support or spend a dime for your campaign.

From here, Roy Moore is financially on-his-own against the democratic challenged (...typo, but I like that, "democratic challenged"....eh).
Ken Cuccinelli a solid conservative, really likes Roy Moore - from the why he's flooded my inbox with requests for $.   Problem I have, why should I just throw dollars at a candidate I know nothing about, and the request(s) is the same old verbage, "Help stop the -blank- takeover of -blank- by supporting our knucklehead!"

If you know something about Roy Moore, and he's worth backing, speak up, please.   Even with the Senate hanging on by a thread, McConnell probably prefers a Dem over the guy he's been bad-mouthing for months.  It'll be up to grass-roots support, financing, to get him in.

The fact that McConnell and cronies spent millions to defeat Moore IMHO is enough reason to send a couple of $$ his way.  We know that Mitch doesn't like conservatives and sure as heck doesn't want anyone in his beloved Senate that won't vote along with him or march to the beat of his drum. I agree, I have little doubt that McConnell will find a way to get millions to ensure that Moore doesn't win.

So ... we have McCain knocking on death's door, Corker retiring and the 'Turtle' with ruffled feathers ... all could very well turn the majority over to the DEMS in the Senate in '18.

Moore is not without controversy:

Moore was elected to the position of Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court in 2001, but removed from his position in November 2003 by the Alabama Court of the Judiciary for refusing to remove a monument of the Ten Commandments commissioned by him from the Alabama Judicial Building, despite orders to do so by a federal court.

Moore was again elected Chief Justice in 2013, but was suspended in May 2016, for directing probate judges to continue to enforce the state's ban on same-sex marriage despite the fact that it had been overturned. Following an unsuccessful appeal, Moore resigned in April 2017, and announced that he would be running for the United States Senate seat which was vacated by Jeff Sessions.

It's no secret that I am not a fan of Kushner and IMHO, to me it shows a lack of character on Trump's part to endorse someone just because his son-in-law told him to.  Obviously 'they' want that AL seat more liberal and someone they can control.

I find it very interesting that Luther Strange, who was appointed by former Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley (replacing Sessions) and who had the backing of both Trump and McConnell lost!!

It's extremely telling that Moore won and leaving Trump puzzled as to how it happened, as well as showing the RINO we're but a few votes away from seizing the Majority, which we will succeed in doing come 2020.
Either these people are stupid, or in total denial, but Conservatives have been chipping away at the Establishment with success every single midterm, something the Dim party ignored at their own peril, and the gop'E is about to discover as well.

They'll all want to blame McCONnel for the loss, but truth is, he's done a fabulous job for the Marxists, and that's why he along with the Establishment, is about to feel the first of many amputations without anaesthetic.

Wanna bet we do not see any MSM reports that TEA prevailed again? The folks have figured out GOPe in many places. I hope Trump realizes Moore will be more beneficial to him than Strange.

Makes me wonder why he booted Bannon, was it that the RINO convinced Trump of their non reality that, TEA is the enemy?
I just can't believe Trump could be so stupid as to not see what's happening in the country, especially after 3 consecutive Midterm slaughters of leftists in both party's.

One wonders if Kushner has too much influence with Trump/

IMO....this didn't shock anyone in the White House. They seen the writing on the wall when Bannon went full Breitbart on them. Why did they keep going full throttle for Strange is the million dollar question. Hell Strange conceded before the AP called it.

If Strange is honest I bet you five American bucks he would tell you he didn't have a victory speech on hand.

It's pretty amazing that Bannon is beating, and quite possibly building a bigger machine, than McConnell and Rove.  Those guys are rather upset that their 30-year "ownership" of the party looks to be crumbling.

No Jeb, no Strange............ looking good.
