WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama did some cherry-picking Tuesday night in defense of his record on jobs and laid out a conditional path to citizenship for illegal immigrants that may be less onerous than he made it sound.

A look at some of the claims in his State of the Union speech, a glance at the Republican counterargument and how they fit with the facts:

It's an overreach if he he can get it all passed and he can only do that by executive order.
He spent 5 minutes talking about smaller government then the rest of the speech telling us government is the only option.

I made a wise decision and chose to watch the premier of "Reef Wranglers" on the TWC instead of Obama. At least those guys accomplish something. I knew what was coming and it only took about five minutes this morning to confirm I was correct. More spending - that's it folks. Same old tired lib appeal of raising the minimum wage, etc;. Everything he mentioned is to be done with someone else's money.

How long before there's court action if he continues to govern/legislate this way? I have a feeling with nothing to lose he will ramp things up. After all he will be long gone before any of t hits the SCOTUS.

didnt listen to it but I got the gist of it:

Hussein wants to ban guns, slap down American energy production in the name of Global warming, promote amnesty for 11 million illegals
and the economy and joblessness that abounds is still Bush's and the Republicans fault.

PLUS he wants to do something stupid like raise the minimum wage
to $9 an hour which traditionally will raise prices of everything.

It appears Boehner may be figuring out what is going on. We herad the laundry list from Obama and now Boehner is saying, "OK, write a bill and let us look at it". This is the last thing the dems want.

We all konw Obama's claim that his programs won't add a "dime" to the deficit is an outright lie. If they submit a bill the CBO will have to mark it and the truth will be out. This is the strategy I believe the GOP should take going forward.

I just hope Boehner does not cave.
