Quiller, you said it all.  Every time I go into the voting booth, I just shake my head in disappoint and disbelief.

Let me see, which "lesser of two evils" should I vote for this time around.  Should I vote for the Democrat, who lies and spends other people's money and votes in lockstep with his leftist masters, or should I vote for the Republican in name only who pretends to be a conservative but is really a sleazy moderate, who has no spine, and who will sell his vote to the highest bidder.

What a helluva choice.

Well, imagine my thrill at seeing the feds take out Spiro Agnew and the walls cave in over Watergate, and I was a working journalist in Michigan who simply cringed at Nixon choosing hapless Gerald Ford to put the inevitable pardon into play. I saw it coming the day they announced it.

So Nixon goes, Ford ascends, Dan Quayle becomes their Joe Biden punch-line thanks to Murphy "unmarried momma" Brown ---

--- and there I stood in the ballot booth, trying to decide whether to vote for a total political sell-out who SHOULD have thrown Nixon to the wolves --- or that cloven-hooved POS on the other side....choking back breakfast as I stared at that soul-searing ballot...

Voting for my home-state guy was the toughest queasiest choice I had ever made. It's gotten worse since then.

Dick Morris?  Oh yeah, he's the guy who wrote an entire book back in 2008 about the "fact" that Hillary Clinton would be our next President.

Good call, Dickie!

We'll see........

Oh, I have no doubts there are many of the PUB Slugs that do not even want to confront the problems associated with the repeal. Many of their constituents will tar and feather them next election cycle. PUBS, especially when facing re-election can be the most sanctimonious twits in the world ( witness Boehner, McConnell, and some of the other center ring freaks that try to pass themselves off as conservatives.

Nah, as usual, the PUBS will talk, confer, caucus, scratch their bellies, and generally sling dingleberries around, and not a thing will get done. Most of those nitwits are as useless as teats on a boar.

Hey Shooterman. What do you think about Rand Paul? Is he the real deal? I like him, but as a Ron Paul supporter I thought it would be cool to hear what you think too.
If you believe big government is the solution then you are a liberal. If you believe big government is the problem then you are a conservative.

Months ago, when he first started campaigning for the seat, I sent him a little money. Wasn't much- old folks don't have a lot to give. I think the acorns don't fall fall from the tree and believe Rand Paul will do whatever he says he will, or at least attempt to.

Yeah. That's the feeling I got too. I don't think he's going up there to play games.

I have never been anything except a registered Independent, and every time I go into a ballot box, I want to bring an airsickness bag.

I respect your position.  I am often embarrassed to call myself a Republican because of those who call themselves Republicans; Guilt By Association.  In my state you can only vote in a primary if you are registered in that party.  (No Operation Chaos Allowed)  So, given the choice between a candidate with an (R) in front of his/her name versus a New York State Liberal (communist) with a (d) in front of it's name (or worse, a Liberal in Republican clothing versus a Tea Party conservative), I 'm committed to do my best to replace as many Libs ans I can in the Bluest of Blue States!  That translates to being a Registered Republican so I can participate in trying to get a candidaate not picked by the Liberal RINO Party Bosses in Albany and NYC!  It's all up hill!

I'm a conservative first and a republican second and the republican party only has my loyalty in so much as they advocate the conservative values I believe in.

I agree with that, so how would we both be having a blond moment?

Taxed, your agreement with Dan makes three of us.  I think that Shooter is having the "blonde moment".

Either Shooter misread what Dan stated, or he doesn't understand that conservatives and Republicans are NOT mutually inclusive.

And saying I am a conservative first isn't the same thing as thinking republican is a 4 letter word and thinking all republicans are bad in every action, every instance, with no exceptions.
