I believe his reason for stepping down is two fold, one he gets to be with his family, the other, is he can prosecute Clinton unabated via the Benghazi special committee.

I think the verdict is still out on Trey. He put on a great show in the IRS investigation, but what came of it? Not one damn thing, but that's not necessarily his fault, this lies with the Con Speaker, he has full control over the agenda, and obviously wanted it to end, and more than likely would have exposed him as a participant in Obozo attacking TEA, we are, after all, just as much, if not more so a threat to McCoON-nel as we were to the DNC.
I have no doubt in my mind, McCON was in direct communication with the left in using Govt as a weapon for attacking TEA.
Trey can get sooo much more accomplished in the private sector, and when he finishes the Benghazi investigation, that leaves him open for a SCOTUS appointment.

I believe several rino's wanted that investigation to end also. If you need names just look at the list of who is retiring. Which brings up a quick question, obama was too stupid to know how to abuse power. Hell, he never accomplished ANYTHING on his own. Somebody had to show him how to use the fbi and the irs to push their agenda, who? hillary? soros? biden? (I just threw that last name in for laughs)

I read he was offered a judgeship back home but turned it down. I don't think he feels he is cut out for politics. You can see it in the committee meetings. He goes nuclear on political hacks.

He said he will continue his work on the Clinton Benghazi scandal via committee.
