OK, bad joke, but that's life.

The millionaire owner of the UK Segway company has died after apparently riding one of his company's motorised scooters off cliffs and into a river.

Jimi Heselden, 62, crashed into the River Wharfe while riding the vehicle round his estate in Thorp Arch, Boston Spa, West Yorkshire, on Sunday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The scooter was found in the water.

Mr Heselden, who founded Leeds-based company Hesco Bastion, acquired the Segway operation in December 2009.

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police confirmed Mr Heselden's identity.

She said: "Police were called at 1140 yesterday to reports of a man in the River Wharfe, apparently having fallen from the cliffs above."

She said a "Segway type" vehicle had been recovered.

My brother and his wife each have one.  Was going to look at one, but now I think I will pass.  My cliff is over 500 ft high and it runs both ways for over a mile each way.  I will keep with the 4 wheeler.

A lifelong friend and a Lt that worked for me for years...lives on a mountain quite rural in Wvirginia, his driveway has a 300ft + drop. When it snows theres only one thing that can go up and down that driveway safely..so HE tells me and hes tried it all...is a 4wheel drive 4 wheeler....nothing else is safe

Same here, the road to my property has a 300' climb as well, then drops straight to my property the same.
Over the years, I have had to get out the 4X4 and tow them out of my front yard.

I wish flat landers understood snow better. ;D

Every vehicle on my property is four wheel drive, I learned my first year up here.
The hard way. :-[ ;D

And I ST am still learning the hard way even with AWD - thank God for the tractor and Solars  patience.

I think he knew what was coming after I launched me and his 3 wheeler off one of the cliffs early in our relationship... :) :)
I pray, not wish because I have a God not a Genie.

Or when you fell in the pond (empty, I might add) or fell down the mountain, or wandered in the dark with an Ipod on. (bait for Mt Lions)
