They tried to make a point on the impact of the Govt shutdown, problem is, no one is being effected in the least bit, and govt continues to function.
In fact, what they did prove is, those furloughed are nonessential and could easily be removed from the payroll, er, taxpayer teat.


With the government in shutdown, a large number of federal employees have found themselves either on unpaid leave or working without pay. This is the effect the shutdown would have if the same number of people were laid off from American industries and companies.

... the 748,000 people employed by the mining and oil extraction industries in the United States. (And it's 16 times the size of the entire coal mining industry.)

The Treasury department furloughed roughly 72,400 workers. That is nearly three times the number of people who work at Facebook.
