I most emphatically DO NOT consider Toledo to be that.

"The Glass City" is still alive and doing well, whereas Detroit (well north of that) has died and everyone forgot that the vandals stole the casket. In Toledo the NEA schools still manage to teach kids. In Detroit, they fail them.

Toledo is still friendly in a small-town way, where people actually DO know each other, and are not immersed in hardshell leave-me-alone ignorance like the Motor City. There is genuine civic pride in Toledo. Up to the north: bitter despair.

The newspaper is crackpot-leftist under Block News Alliance --- but nothing nearly as insane as the Detroit Free Press (evidently a wholly-owned Democrat subsidiary). The Blade (the formal name, not The Toledo Blade) has endorsed Republicans before --- they just can't recall the last time any actually won.

Yes, the unions and Donks run both towns, but at least with Toledo there are organized A-Team and B-Team Dems offering distinctly different approaches to stealing taxpayer money.

You won't see nearly the QC problems from Jeep products built in Toledo. There, they have a work-ethic (unionized or not!). In Detroit, it's Government Motors and recalls galore.
