God, the humanity! Hundreds stuck on escalators.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A power outage struck a wide area of San Francisco on Friday, blacking out about 90,000 utility customers, trapping people in stuck elevators, snarling traffic as intersection signals went dark and forcing shops and restaurants to close.
Pacific Gas & Electric crews were assessing the problem and there was no immediate estimate for restoration of electricity.
The Fire Department tweeted that it had responded to more than 100 calls for service, including 20 stuck elevators with people inside. However, no injuries were reported related to the outage.

QuoteOn transportation, the report called for more investment at all levels of government to fix the deferred maintenance crisis, and also called for reliable federal funding through a higher motor fuels tax.

It is a state/city problem not a federal problem.   Why should I pay a fuel tax for a city or state I will not be in in my life time.   :cursing:

San Fran loses power, eh?

In the Midwest, it usually means a bump in the population growth, nine months later...  wonder how this will effect San Fran residents?

STDs and deaths by AIDS will probably spike. Lines will form to overpay for wherever they were living. Some things won't change. Bums never needed electricity to crap in the streets.

San Fran is soooo... Progressive, WHY is there a power outage?

Don't they all have roofs covered in Solar Cells and Wind Turbines and Tidal power generation?    NIMBY...?
Every home is it's own power plant, they'd be the FIRST in line to protest & shut down a new power generating station!
Why would the San Fran residents have a need for "Grid Power" - they've always been about stopping pollution, so what the heck?

Don't tell me they PAY those evil capitalists types for -gasp- electricity generated by Coal, Natural Gas, Damming up rivers, Nuclear...?
Oh... here it comes, we need to give them more government money to outfit each roof with solar cells...

I wonder if this is a result of the third worlding of SF or its Sanctuary city policy. In most 3rd world countries, the local's hijack electricity from power lines to avoid paying for it. This overloads the system and causes "brownouts" I recall stories of illegals in California setting up camp in abandon buildings etc.

A sudden run on long extension cords at Lowes...?

That'd be quite the place during a power outage - if you're one of the few with a power generator.
Hordes of Mad-Max-look-a-likes pounding on your door, trying to steal your generator...
Sounds like a movie script in the making.

The bigger question is, was this a false flag, a test to see if they could cripple major metro areas?
I stumbled across a video, which led me to a site that was set up over a decade ago by National Geographic.
The site asks 10 questions, the first asking if you have a battery powered radio with each successive question escalating in degree to the catastrophe.
You can watch the short video in each segment so as to relate to the emergency unfolding before the country.

It's not a test, it's more of an awareness questionnaire, though I assume it's a way to gather info on just how prepared we are as individuals.
Of course, I aced it being totally self sufficient for no other reason than that's the way I chose to live.
But in taking the questionnaire I realized one thing, would a collapse of civilization really be all that bad? Seriously, it just might be the wakeup call this nation needs.

According to the site, society collapses within 2 weeks if power is not restored, though I find that number optimistic if you think a collapsed society is a good thing, because I still see parts of the nation that hasn't fallen for the leftist way of life and will still be willing to work together, it's a Conservative thing, something libs will never understand, it's called law and order.

I'll move this to Survival in a bit.

But the question is, can you do without the city, could you head for the wide open spaces and survive?  Maybe it's time to take a refresher survival course?

Here's the video, and the link is the NG site.
