Happy Fourth of July holiday. Hopefully most of our citizens know what it is for and why we celebrate it.

I was watching some news and a poll was cited in the report. It got me to thinking. For this discussion, let's assume there is some validity to polls understanding that is a stretch in many cases.

I am continuously amazed how polls seem to swing. Does our citizenry have no core values so their opinions are not set? It seems our populace swings with the wind as events evolves.

What are others' thoughts?

Most of my opinions are being "refined", not changed, but as details emerge - still on the same track, just don't have all the answers.

There is one person I've really come a long way on, Donald Trump.  Cautiously supportive of most of his policies, and since "Make America Great Again" is turning out  to be a way of Governance, I'm squarely behind him.  After 8 years of Obama, I am cautious of politicians who are quick to sell-us-out.

Yes, on Donald Trump, from 1 year ago, I have nearly completely swung to his side... nothing to do with his personality, but Neil Gorsuch was a crowning appointment, IMO, and I was won over.

Regarding the news - I don't have a TV, talking heads are talking heads, saying nothing fit for intellectual consumption.

You are preaching to the choir on this subject. Most here were not Trumpers and as time went by he looked more conservative. I still do not believe he is a conservative, but his appointments and actions so far have been positive.

Same here.  I love how he's getting drenched by the lib media, but he seems to not slow down and keep throwing punches.  I'm way past him being "unpresidential" and really like him pushing the bounds.  Like the Mika/Joe tweet -- at first I was "Mr. President, what in the hell are you doing???".  Then, Joe/Mika became the center of the media world (for the first time ever) and tried to spin out of it by saying they were blackmailed.  Instead, they got caught in a rear naked choke after it became obvious they lied and tried to tap out.  Think about it -- it was the hottest story on the planet for 24 hours and other outlets thought "We got him on something!  He tried to use the presidency to blackmail someone!".  Then once it looked like that wasn't the case and Trump was vindicated, the story died instantly.  The tweet prompted people to look at all the crap they were talking about Trump over the past few months, and then it became apparent that he just had enough of those two and bitch-slapped them with a tweet.  Unpresidential, yet completely warranted, and another body punch to the liberal media, providing us normal people with another satisfying media scalp (or two in this case -- even though they share a little brain).

It seems also when he does this, it provides cover for the administration to keep moving forward with legislation, appointments, executive orders, etc., providing cover to any weak GOP who are scared of liberal outrage with the cover of media darkness.

McConnell and Ryan could learn something from him. A couple of bitch slaps on Schumer and Pelosi and they would change their tunes. It all boils down to Trump having to beat McConnell and Ryan as well.

Well put.   I was thinking about how to word it, because it's a train with a full head of steam, and the MSM is all tied up with false & dead end articles - as if Trump is trying to keep them -busy- while his "gang" is working DC over.

Every so often I hear some commentator say the work behind the scenes is being ignored, then starts mentioning the State Department (Tillerson retiring the hanger-ons), or the EPA regs getting Axe...  I actually said, "Shhhhhh!!!!" to the radio in the truck!   This is the opposite of Obama on policy, for a change.   But ... I'd still rather every single policy go through the House / Senate and Trump use his powers of persuasion to twist McConnel and Ryan.

And... heck man, this is JULY of his first year.  He's off to a great start.   ...and I hear the wall construction is starting soon too!
Que up Maxine Waters ... the media needs another face to keep them distracted.

BTW, is Mika soothing Joe's hurt feelings, or chewing him out for being such a wimp?
Is Joe trying to console a crying Mika, or calling her a loud mouth bitch who nearly blew their career?
Inquiring minds want to know (... but who cares among conservatives.).

Think about this. Why is the MSM not reporting all these layoffs as normally we would have tons of reporting about how sad it is these folks are losing their jobs? I think it is because the MSM has figured out a majority want to see "the swamp drained" and they do not want ro report Trump's successes.
