Can someone here explain what Political correctness is (in their own words) so we're on the same page?   I don't understand why it is 100% bad and why all censorship is all bad?   I think some things should be censored and against the law and example is child porn.  I think child porn is evil and the people who do it are evil and should be hung by their balls.   

I have the feeling though that I may be misunderstanding what PC is and I may be meshing things together that I should not be meshing but can't quite put my finger on it.

Child porn is not a PC thing. It's a felony.

Political correctness is all about being offended. That is it. Is being offended a crime? If so how? Why? The left has decided they are the arbiters of what is offensive because it can be used to limit speech. We see it all over college campuses. Leftists stifle free speech on the basis that what is being said offends them. So what? What happens when you are offended? Nothing. Imagined or not. Someone calls you a dick? Why worry? That person is probably an asshole. PC is all about controlling speech.

I see what you guys are saying so far.  So, if I'm understanding so far the concept of PC is not meant to be applied to something criminal or something immoral like murder, rape, pedophilia, theft, etc , etc but is meant to be applied prohibiting the discussion of ideas and truths.  PC uses all kinds of words and phrases and shouting downs not to allow the free flow of ideas but to prevent them.   And, some ideas like pedophila are considered immoral and criminal so PC does not apply.

Am I at least on the right track or way off base still?

That is not censorship. That is a crime, and photographing and distributing such material is a crime.

Remove that part and reassess.

Political correctness means complying with the political sensetive bench marks set by the LEFT and the LEFT only. Under PC you are not free to express your views about any person place or thing that is under the self appointed protectorate of the left, unless it is to agree with or quote the party line all must be in lockstep with.

You may not speak in jest lest you be termed "a hater" you may not speak the truth lest you be labeled a "sexist", 'racist', 'homophobe', Islamophobe" or whatever "phobe".  If you "deny climate change" they want to go so far as to prosecute you which was a plan in the works by the former AG Loretta Lynch. And that is the true danger of Political correctness.

To the left, any of these Political incorrect transgressions are just as serious as Child pornography....under the guise of a "hate crime". Just look at some of the threads posted on this forum. A MAGA hat is the same as a KKK hood and justifies the wearer being attacked or having a gun shoved in their face or thrown out of a resturaunt. failure to call a trans sexual person by the proper form of address is a denial of civil rights, a prosecutable offense.  Flying the American flag in your PC subdivision is against the HOA rules and you must take it down, if not you end up in court.

Mark my words, it will not be long until some jurisdictions enact laws against wearing MAGA hats, flying the American flag, or calling a MAN who got a silicone impant boob job and now wears a Dolly Pardon wig and size 12 pink pump "Sir" instead of "Ma 'am"

I remember when the term PC was starting to be bandied about, most of us laughed at the idiocy of altering ones speech so as not to offend the weenies.
As the 60s progressed into the early 70s, the term was gaining ground, particularly here in the Capitol of Ca, where the left was moving it through Legislation, (Correct Speech), even the Mayor, Ann Rudin, a known Marxist, was pushing to have the term "Man Hole Cover" removed from the States lexicon.
