Do not know much about him since he had no government experience prior to current appointment.
A native of Washington state, educated at the University of Washington and MIT. Not exactly conservative institutions. Worked for Boeing which as been on the government teat for decades. I question his conservative credentials if any.

All I know is John McCain threatened to block his 2017 appointment as deputy secretary of defense. Can he be all that bad if John McCain didn't like him.... :thumbsup:
Other than that I know nothing about this guy.

The final vote sailed through the Senate, but it wasn't always smooth sailing for Shanahan on Capitol Hill.
