It's horribly sad. Giving your from California I would ask though if the state is to take any blame. I had a discussion today with a co-worker about this and he claims that the State is to blame for the improper dealing of these forests. You did mention environmental restrictions as well. Do you think any of these will change in the wake of this fire?
Yes...
Moonbeam is in the hot seat over this and the lawsuits will be bare fruit on the issue, simply because no one will want to take the full brunt of the blame, so all sides will be looking for scapegoats.
But in the end, the main reason will be environmentalism and these stupid fucking laws that tied the hands of all parties involved and the Governor ignored the pleas clear more brush.
Some areas in the State have restrictions that you can't cut your own tree if it's over 10 inches, Tahoe Forest, I think.

The majority of us ignore all these ridiculous laws and do what is necessary, the only way to get caught is if some bleeding heart turns you in.

Listening to KGO 810 San Fran Freako, the go to Conservative station of the bat shit crazy area.
Anyway, after the Conservative host was done for the day, the next moron leads off with"Trump's coming, should he come, now"?
Then went on a rant about Trump is grandstanding, he should wait till the fires are done, etc. totally unhinged liberal BS, even had the audacity to claim we're a blue state and no one wants him representing him. (Yeah, damned if he does, damned if he don't)

Well, he got his ass handed to him by Bay area libs for making such stupid claims, that this is the kind of shit the media does, that he is only reaffirming what the right already thinks about the left, that were all a bunch of idiots.
They all said they welcome the President, thought it was a great thing that he sees first hand the damage taking place and talk to those that lost everything including family and friends.

He cut the last caller short, went into some nonsensical rant, said he needed to take a short commercial break.
Came back and changed the subject completely. Something tells me the boss wasn't happy, and that all the calls coming in were all waiting to rip him a new asshole.

Anyway, Trump will be here today. Welcome Mr President!

I mentioned the brush issue the other day and got massacred for it. All anyone wants to talk about is the now but refuse to look at the past and what happened. While I do not believe it is entirely the government's fault for this happening after reading this I woulld put some blame on them. What i'm more curious of is what will change?

Boy, let me give you some ammo to fight back, oh, and Moonbeam even admitted it was a vegetation issue in his response to Trump.
Yes, it will change, because all the lawsuits about to hit the courts will reveal the single biggest issue was heavy vegetation.

Watching Trump live TV out of Chico and I have to say, I'mm impressed, he knows exactly what's going on, even questioning about the green area on the map, which happens to be National forest and the forester explained what a threat it is because it's bone dry.

For an idea on the damage, click the link below, zoom in on Ca and the red dot. This is devastating.

More than 1000 missing, 71 confirmed dead.

Update:: Trump just departed for Socal. It's interesting, but before he arrived, the atmosphere about Trump was restrained,, these are leftists because it is a College town, Chico State University, so they like to think they're a progressive sister of SF.
However, after Trump spoke live, and showed just how concerned he obviously is,, and the fact that he is giving the full support of the Fed in dealing with this mess, they suddenly lightened up and see him as human, actually had praise for the President.
Just kind of weird to see liberals take a 160 on their attitude toward Trump.

I watched Trump's press conference this evening with Gov. Brown. Brown looked like he was afraid Trump was going to hit him.

By the way, the fire continues to spread, but it will all be coming to an end on Wednesday when the rains move in Tuesday night, which should last at least 5 days with inches of accumulation all up and down the North State.

I see their now saying there are 1600 people missing unaccounted for.  With Trump going down there they added 600 more people.

Yes, this is look worse everyday that people don't report in. Many left everything behind, including cell phones, so many were reported missing, but this is looking to be the worst natural disaster fire in Ca history.

With all due credit to Gov Moonbeam and crazy California, WRT environmental regulation causing fire hazard, it would be important to remember that a good portion of the problem is federal forest and wildlife management.

I am way up here in NW Montana, and I can testify to the same problem. In all my life growing up here, I can remember but a handful of times the valley filled with smoke. Now, it is a regular occurrence - Every August, you can pretty near bet, will be a month long inundation... The smoke so thick as to make breathing a chore. And the difference coincides with stopping timber sales, and stopping new road building, and gating off the roads that are there, and treaties giving Canada massive advantage in the timber market... along with the faulty idea that it is good to let the forest burn.

Timber Industry in the West is gone. And it has been gone for thirty years.

And it will not be an easy fix, even if the feds change their tune - The private sector is a huge part of forest management, and that private sector is ~gone~.

The mills are gone.
The logging companies are gone.
the road building companies are gone.
The truckers are gone.
the sawyers and crews are gone.

Putting it back is going to require a long term commitment toward a sane forest management model - Something way longer than a single administration can do... Because the long term is what will entice the money-pockets to get back into the timber game. Just opening up timber sales for a few years will not cut it.

I have no idea what "WRT environmental regulation" stands for, and not to disagree with anything you said because it's all true, but out here in Ca it's even worse where simply clearing brush is concerned.
If someone calls the State to complain you're clearing land, not only will you be immediately ordered to cease and desist, but you will be forced to get an environmental impact study done at your own expense, after which, you could be fined for God only knows what, but you could actually face jail time as well.
Here in Ca, a mud puddle is protected, they even changed it's designation to "Vernal Pool".
Had a farmer nearly lose his land for tilling part of a dried out "Vernal Pool". This state is so fucked up, that many are afraid to have brush removed due to so many hidden clauses protecting and kind of habitat, be it frogs or insects, the state has a law covering it.
