Title: Panthers for sale!
Post by: Hoofer on December 25, 2017, 05:24:55 AM
Since nobody else would, I will...

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/carolina-panthers-for-sale-owner-jerry-richardson-misconduct-investigation/
QuoteIt was announced Sunday that Carolina Panthers team owner Jerry Richardson will put the team up for sale, according to a statement on the Panthers' website, amid allegations of misconduct against Richardson. The statement read in part that Richardson had "no greater mission" than bringing "an NFL franchise to Charlotte."

https://www.tmz.com/2017/12/17/carolina-panthers-owner-jerry-richardson-team-for-sale-nfl-investigation/
QuoteAs we reported ... the Panthers launched an investigation into their owner this week for alleged misconduct in the workplace, including reported cash settlements for at least 4 employees.
According to Sports Illustrated, the misconduct centered around alleged sexual harassment and the use of a racial slur. The NFL also announced Sunday that it was taking over the Panthers' original probe ... which appears to have forced Richardson's hand.

So much for the "Stick and stones can break my bones, but names can never hurt me!" saying.  As far as "cash settlements", probably for their "silence" - sue to get the money back.

But, there's another twist... always is, another twist.

P Diddy wants to buy the Carolina Panthers and sign Colin Kaepernick.  He says he would also have the best half-time show... >yawn<
and he said as the new owner, would IMMEDIATELY address the Kaepernick situation - not that he would bump Cam Newton, but it's all about competition.             ...trying to contain my laughter ...      The thought of 31 other team owners won't sign Kaepernick as a backup, practice squad, or bench warmer - and somehow, it's a situation that needs to be "addressed"...?  You gotta SUCK really terrible to get passed up like that.

And, lest we forget, when did Kaepernick become an "African American"...?   I'd love to know what Cam Newton, who is on the cusp of leading the Panthers to another playoff berth, thinks of surrendering his team to a ... 4-12 loser quarter back, because he's down-for-the-struggle & sports a Afro, but can't play ball for S...  Is it towel-on-the-head time for Cam, a proven QB?  (..this is a punch to the gut, if it were me!..  I'd be tellin' the O-line, "Hey man, open a hole ...yeah, you, right guard, just a half step at the snap.. yeah, you got it.. welcome back to the NFL, sucka!")

Meanwhile, the players clock is winding down on Colin Kaepernick, as is his bank account I suspect... soon to be forgotten.
So much potential, wasted.

Jerry Richardson might be making the smartest move in football, getting your money -OUT- before the real financial impact of the protests hits the next contract negotiation.  Nothing like bailing before the party is over and there's nothing but a mess to clean up.

I doubt seriously the NFL would approve P Daddy as owner. That being, if by chance they fold to PC and do it it will be a disaster. If would give us an excellent example of how to ruin an NFL team. The Charlotte fans (Those who actually PAY to see them) would reject P Daddy's ownership which would expedite the team's demise.

Some lessons are not learned, unless it's the hard way.  Let him force it, and let the PC crowd have their way.   If the owners are so stupid to give Roger Goodell a contract extension worth $200 million, they're PC enough to help P Diddy acquire a team of his own.

Roger Goodell may actually earn some that new contract if this becomes a possibility.

Knowing the distinction between and importance of customers and employees, is basic to business;
except for the likes of Dodger Goodell.
Consequently the NFL will pay the price and so what? Everything in this life is cyclical.
Sports is a form of entertainment and there is always a replacement in the wings of the stage.
Suspect Jerry Richardson is clairvoyant and sees the deluge on the horizon.
So he's walking up the gangway now rather than waiting till the Arc is overflowing.
Smart man.

Even liberal Mark Cuban calls the commie NFL a dying business and would never invest in it.

Mark Cuban On Why He Wouldn't Buy the Carolina Panthers: 'Why would I buy an NFL team if I think the league is in decline?'

Agree completely!   Don't know the man, he's probably a businessman who can see those empty seats & doesn't need an accountant to tell him, "lean days are here, and it's not looking like it's gonna get any better, boss!"

By this time next year, would I be surprised if 2-3 more teams were going up for sale at discounted prices?  nope.

This is golden... coming from a leftie...
Quote"You just get the sense that they don't really have a grasp of how to connect to people in the broader population."

The NFL can also add anthem protests to the list of ways in which they, disconnect.

       Even a Leftie knows, "You don't STAY rich being stupid"  (unless you're a comedian)
Sell it to P Diddy.... and Colin Kaepernick.... please!!!

It's a confluence rather than a single event that has caused the present NFL fiasco; among them:
* time has replaced John Mara, Arthur Rooney, George Halas, Pete Rozelle; w/its present gaggle of assholery
* belligerent, coarse and infantile on field behavior by illiterate black players, has been excused/ignored.
* referees have morphed into media whores needy of chronic camera attention and post game microphones.
* unlike Rugby, where egregious fouling results in match dismissal, it's largely ignored in the NFL.
Sports come an go which is the message of life. So what. Mother's of young boys won't shed any tears nor should they.

Personally,  my feelings about the N.F.L are the same feelings I have about the U.N, I am tired of seeing $ going to people who bad mouth and bash the U.S. It would not bother me to see them both just disappear.

I've always wondered why Cricket is ... whatever the hell it is, that can last for days.  One summer, we had 4 Aussies try to teach us the game - several hours later, we gave up.... I guess we might have understood what it was about, if we drank as much as they did.

Thanks to the NFL....  I'm actively looking into watching my first game/match/test - just need to have a couple of cases of beer/ale on hand to make it through the whole thing.

Cricket is a Bat and Ball sport w/a Bowler/Pitcher and Batsman/Hitter that often stretches into days.
Yes indeed bring lot's of ale and sausage!

The burning question....   'Can an NFL stadium be converted into a Cricket field?'  And what if they had 3-4 "Tests" going on?
Just think of the concession sales, breakfast, lunch & dinner!

If they decided to "try it" in Charlotte, NC., - I'd go, and bring the cheese, crackers & beer nuts ...
Definitely a "bucket list" item - endure a Cricket Test/match - whatever.

Bring a cot, it'll probably be the best sleep you've had in years.
