tbone, you lost me.  Not sure what you are talking about.  My passport comment?

Well, Flyer, your mention of passports made me think maybe you thought we should vacate the premises. To which idea, my question is, "Where we gonna go?"

Is that not what you meant?

Don't forget your passports!   :o
From what I've read, include you Birth Cert. along with every piece of ID you can think of, they are cracking down on the border and are searching all cars.
Not even worth the trouble.

Brian Aitken, who was sentenced to seven years in prison after two handguns were found in his trunk.

This comes as no surprise, as to the number of Left Wing leaning activist judges that have been appointed over the last several years. While "wild bill clinton" alone was reported to have been responsible for a record number of same, with totals somewhere in the 100's.
While they try to walk a fine line, for the most part attempting to go unnoticed, they always revert to form along the way by instilling their suttle contribution to dismantling the Constitution. With a decision based on abject conjecture, rather than a preponderence of the facts. Unwittingly becoming obvious as to their intent, while consistently ruling against logic, mercy, and benefit of any doubt. Always displaying their greatest consistency whenever Firearms are involved.
The good news in this is the consistency of Gov. Christie. Building a reputation for dispensing old fashioned American "justice", which under the current Federal Regime has become a rare commodity.

The guy's getting screwed, and his appeals have to be filed from his office in a cell in a NJ state prison.

State law in NJ says "thou shalt not own a high-capacity magazine or hollow-point bullets." He had both, as defined by NJ law, and I think that's what landed him in the pokey as much as possessing the firearms.

This case also illustrates the deadly dangers of administrative "rules," which end up being LAWS. Perfect example: After the enactment of the Brady Bill, the BATF (now the BATFE) formulated new "rules" for the instant check system, which would enable gun dealers to perform instant background checks on prospective gun buyers. The fine folks at BATF decided -- completely outside the law as written -- that a buyer who had ever been arrested on certain charges -- not convicted of any crime at all, but merely arrested -- would be prohibited from buying a gun. It's still on the books, kids. I ain't makin' this stuff up. Even if you're later completely exonerated -- acquitted -- you cannot get past the instant check system if you have ever been arrested on any sort of domestic violence charge, for instance.

"Innocent until proven guilty" holds in some quarters, but not when it comes to government bureaucracy.
NJ has sucked for years. They have the most draconian gun laws. You can't even buy a bb gun in any Walmart, or even the bbs'. Last I recall, you had to apply for a gun permit at the local police department and then it had to be approved by a county judge. Even that didn't guarantee you being able to transport a weapon within the state.
Government- the cancer that consumes wealth

Do you have a link to that story?

Here ya go:

QuoteWith that, Christie will have renominated 12 of the 14 judges who were up for their tenure decision in 2010. Most famously, he didn't renominate Associate Justice John Wallace Jr., who left the Supreme Court in May. Also on his way out next week is Superior Court Judge James Morley.

And the link to the story - link

It's a blog, not the article in which I originally saw the story, but it's got all the basic information. Morley's been a bit of a dick weed on other cases. It looks like the New Jersey bench isn't losing one of its leading lights.
