After sending the attached item to a friend who is a retired  veteran of the USAF of forty years and whose specialty was what is referred to as the 'spooks dept', I received this from him:

" ...an estimated 40% of parts procured military parts are counterfeit. Sourcing parts and the procurement process is severely broken largely due to congressional meddling to garner pieces of the pie for their home districts. Mom and Pop shops procure items with little government oversight.......32 years experience on this travesty. There are swamps in the districts too. "

I had mentioned my concerns of having the missiles, ground teams, acft, artillery, etc. all aimed/directed with respect to cyber space signals input.

This was a problem decades ago when I was in the army, but nothing to the extreme it is today.
I blame NAFTA, where some contractors subcontract to China for smaller parts with little to no QC or oversight, leading to failure of the overall part, and only then does an investigation occur, which lends to this report being such a high number.

As good as I military is in "kicking ass" the Pentagon is just another huge government bureaucracy. There is tremendous waste and the congress and the Pentagon are partners in corruption.

What those of us who have had real life contact with those of 'rank' know is that in the military- such as the leadership in the Pentagon- we see supreme politicians in their own right. Too often a general is a professional butt-kissing, ticket-punching, personal advance personality and not like some of our *rarer* types we have known in the general ranks. The true leaders of our warriors- you can name them- would be disgusted by what's happening in the Pentagon today.

That backwash of the 1960s & '70s will cause us all trouble for some time to come.

Obama's reign saw the departure of numerous colonels and generals, didn't it?

And here we are.

Please elaborate about military backwash in the 60s and 70s. I wasnt born until the 80s, so Im not sure what specifically you are refering too.

LBJ & Carter's destruction of the military. Reagan saved our military. I assume that's part of what he was referring to.

This might be a naive question but why would we ever purchase parts from anyone other than our closest allies? Why can't a country with our manufacturing and technological prowess provide everything we need?

NAFTA and greedy Congress scum in both parties. Then there's the issue with some smaller parts no longer made in the US, this is what Trump is trying to fix with his trade deals, bringing back manufacturing to the US.
