Germany hopes to make forced marriage a crime

BERLIN — Germany's government on Wednesday proposed criminalizing forced marriage, a tradition that some Muslim immigrant families impose on their children, even ones who were raised in Germany's more liberal society.

Chancellor Angela Merkel's Cabinet agreed to a proposed law that would make forced marriage in Germany a crime that can be punished with up to five years in prison.

The legislation still needs to pass parliament.

Bin Laden warns France over Afghan war, veil ban

CAIRO — Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden threatens in a new audio tape to kill French citizens to avenge their country's support for the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan and a new law that will ban face-covering Muslim veils.

In the tape obtained by satellite television station Al-Jazeera and then posted on its website on Wednesday, bin Laden said France was aiding the Americans in the killing of Muslim women and children in an apparent reference to the war in Afghanistan. He said the kidnapping of five French citizens in the African nation of Niger last month was a reaction to what he called France's oppression of Muslims.

Don't know when the surrender ceremonies are scheduled for, but I heard that the white flag factories in France are working overtime to keep up with the demand.

:D  Paraphrasing Joseph Conrad, bosh and twaddle! That cloth is for burkhas! The French kept their wartime flags, knowing they'd get used again ---just as other countries use the French.

Throw in the Dutch Army ( :)) ) contingent to the UN who surrendered to a rabble in Bosnia and fled from a bunch of machete weilding drunks in Rawanda

I didn't know the Dutch even HAD an Army.  I thought all the Dutch had were a bunch of hookers and serial killers.   :o
