EveryoneOn and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are collaborating to connect children and families in HUD-assisted housing with access to high-speed Internet.  This pilot program is called ConnectHome.

Goals

ConnectHome will accelerate broadband adoption and narrow the digital divide in communities across the nation. ConnectHome will address various barriers to broadband access, including the costs associated with high-speed service and electronic devices, and the need to provide residents with training in digital literacy.

Community Information

EveryoneOn is collaborating with HUD and nonprofit U.S. Ignite to help implement this pilot in 28 communities across the United States. In each participating community, EveryoneOn is working with HUD to help coordinate involvement from public housing agencies, funders, Internet service providers, and community organizations and ensure a holistic approach to Internet adoption.

Yes we lived with dialup for a very long time.  It was free.  I don't know if you can get if free now.  I do know that there is a local library in every community.  Since I have a job I definitely don't qualify for free internet that's for sure.  Although it is another obnoxious bill that takes away from grocery money.  Well steaks are out this Sunday its hamburger helper!

Just checked.  Juno and NetZero are still free dialup.  May not be able to play the high speed games.

Obama phones do not have the capability of accepting R-45 phone plug. Besides very few computers come with a phone modem. However their 70" LED TV might have a wireless connection so they can surf the net!

Think about it.  Just another help and aid for all the immigrants, illegal/otherwise.  Got to make sure that we give them enough so they'll appreciate and vote democrat.  Never mind how dammed mad the conservatives are who are having to foot the bills for their azzes. 

Just interested, how did you get your first job?  Most of us had to struggle to get an education, at least around here we did because the majority of people here were farmers or textile workers.  We didn't have access to everything that's out here now and it is just a shame that we have poor people in these areas that will be dependent on family to get access to better situations.  Government does that, quotas and the like.  Somehow the neediest of folks will be overlooked for a certain majority.  In our case the majority is fast becoming the illegals coming here to feast off of whatever the government gives them of our goods and services and paid for by us. 

It's a little hard for the illegals coming here to get access to the various programs of help without transportation.  It'll be even harder to set them all up with cars to drive on top of putting them in housing, taking care of their medical needs and giving them snap cards for their food.  It will be easier to "connect them" via internet services and even give them in-home tutors to educate them on how to navigate and use them to look up what they want.  It is the plan I'm sure so that the immigrants will feel like they are at home.  The HUD houses mentioned are prime examples of 3rd world country living accomodations.  These are quickly put up and will be going up everywhere.  Cheap housing but still at our expense and i resent even that much for them.  They will not appreciate it because as much as will be done for them, you can't make America warm up to getting fleeced and these folks won't change their poor lifestyles.  They will continue to spit out babies and bring all of their diseased relatives here to live off the taxpayers. 

Before anyone realizes what has taken  place, every city in every state will look like some of the African villages so ravaged by fighting and neglect or even some of the cities the immigrants are fleeing from in Mexico.  These people have not done enough to make their homeland a place where they can thrive so I'm not one bit enthusiastic about their being here and contributing anything of value. 

Funny how I managed to grow up, as did my kids, without a computer.

We used the library or the yellow pages to find what we needed.

Sounds to me like the States and Feds are only concerned with the illegals.
I can see some areas where you can give up on Americans.
If you are white and your kid has problems in school, they take a back seat.
They told the teachers that they have to learn Spanish or they will be phased out around here.

My daughter's computer died while she's getting ready for finals. (Her college has a summer term for sophomores). So I not only have to buy here a computer but a whole bunch of someone else's kids as well?
