Title: Obama: ‘I Would Be Considered a Moderate Republican’ in the 1980s
Post by: Bronx on December 14, 2012, 06:24:09 PM
No President Obama you would still be considered a fool even in the 1980's.

(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama says he would be "considered a moderate Republican" in the 1980s because his policies are "so mainstream."

In an interview with Univision 23 on Thursday, a Spanish station based in Miami, the president was asked about the perception among some Americans that he has a socialist vision for the country.

In 1980 nobody would have denied he was a Communist

Obama would have hated John Kennedy and his policy to lower tax rates to increase tax revenue.

Sheesh, in the 80s, even Gorbachev would have considered him destructive.

The notion of the right moving right is another media lie. The congress elected in 1994 was far more conservative than republicans who picked up seats in 2002 and probably 2010 as a whole. Mitt Romney and John McCain are more liberal than President Bush, who is more liberal than President Reagan was.

By contrast, the democrats have done a 360. After losing in 1980, 1984, and 1988, the democratic party nominated moderate Bill Clinton. In 2000, Al Gore moved to the left to win the nomination and the party continued moving left with John Kerry and Barack Obama. The democrats have become more liberal, but so have the republicans.

Say we, pubes, are moving more left?  I prefer to call it "caving" and we're just on the verge of coming out of the cave and jumping over the "cliff".  We'll see though.

People who register republican but barely pay attention to politics follow the elites, and the elites have moved left. Those in this forum and in the grassroots make up a minority of the electorate, of those who pay attention to politics.
