I was stunned by it too, but for a different reason.
It looked to me like it was a different Obama.
Perhaps this was George Bush with an Obama disguise,
but what he said was unconvincing.
If it was really him, it must have really hurt to say they were meeting their objectives.

It just didn't make any sense to me.

IMO, he went abroad to be away from the bad unemployment news. It seems that anytime there is a failure about to be broadcast, he has the need to be elsewhere. His fragile ego can't handle failure and he doesn't want to be confronted with it.

To the best of my knowledge, the "Obama list of successes" hasn't been started yet, has it?

OK, I'll concede that Obama had his lip "successfully" stitched up (with 8 stitches) after he took an elbow during one of his basketball pickup games.

Lemme 'splain it to you.

Despite the dumping on Obama that's a pastime on this site he really isn't the spawn of the Devil. He's just a standard issue, self-serving politician and, having tested the prevailing winds, he's discovered that the people he previously courted - the anti-war left like Code Pink and Moveon.org - to get the presidency aren't all that useful so he's ditched them.

His new problem is getting re-elected and what worked the first time around won't work the second time.

He can't depend on novelty since the value of being black has eroded to the point that hardly anyone seems to think it's a big deal that he's the first black president. God, I love America. In two years, hell, one year, we made clear that Dr. Kings wish was now the national view because the first black president's no longer being judged by the color of his skin, much to his own discomfort.

Anywho, with a second term to try to win novelty's no longer something he can rely on and he's established a reputation as a lefty. There's time, maybe, to obscure that truth but he's got to do his best to look and sound like someone who isn't a hard-nosed lefty. He's got to make it clear he isn't going to shit on the on the military and the international apologizathon Obama went on early in his tenure isn't much help. So he's got to cozy up to the military and make it clear that he's not going to piss away their sacrifice to appease the likes of Code Pink.

So no, it isn't George Bush with an Obama disguise. It's Obama with a George Bush disguise and that ought to tell you something about the direction of the country.

You can bet those troops were ordered to enthusiastically cheer the Obamao. Nothing like creating an illusion that an American president is so "loved" by the rank and file GI's to take our minds off the bad news at home.

Lots of those GI's clapping and cheering have friends, family and loved ones at home that aren't doing so well under the marxists regime. You can bet their private thoughts were much different.
