The data does not include owners of long guns — rifles or shotguns — which can be purchased without a permit. Being included in this map does not mean the individual at a specific location owns a weapon, just that they are licensed to do so.

This is outrageous.  While it might deter burglaries, it could also set targets on where to go to get guns.  I hope those involved will pursue whatever civil or criminal penalties are possible.

I don't think they'll have to worry about the thugs coming to get their guns and ammunition. The thugs run the risk of getting the ammunition first - one round at a time. I'd worry more if I were their unarmed neighbor. Indeed, I'd demand to be included on the map if I were a long gun owner. 

Hmm..................if couple of counties in a lib state are that covered up with guns, I wonder what the red state counties look like.

A freedom of information request? What the hell happened to the right to privacy? These people aren't sex offenders.

Keep in mind, these are only people with permits for concealed carry, (anyway that's what I surmise from the article), just imagine how many own guns that don't want the Govt knowing about, then multiply that by every county/state in the US.

Every time they even think about it, gun and ammo sales go through the roof. The people that are making the purchases are not thinking about turning them in....................................EVER.

I said before, so I'll say it once more. What started the shooting in the Revolutionary War - the real live let's start trading bullets part - was the Redcoats marching out of Boston to confiscate the weapons and ammunition of of the Patriots at Lexington and Concord. I swear, it sometimes seems as if the left has never picked up a reputable American History text. What are they thinking and who are they getting their history from - Gore Vidal and Oliver Stone?

The left has proven over and over again, they don't learn from history or from their failures.

I'd like to see the someone publish a map of the entire newspapers staff's residences.

Calling all burglers, serial rapists, home invasion crews and sneak theives...these people have lots of money and don't beleive in having guns.
