Title: NRA advice to GOP: start backing Trump
Post by: quiller on May 02, 2017, 03:43:45 AM
Now, don't get me wrong. I fully support the right to keep and bear howitzers, piranha in my moat, Claymore perimeter mines and a phalanx of Ma Dueces scattered around the fortress. I happen to not dislike the NRA. I'm just not much of a joiner.

So when the NRA sounds a flat tone sometimes, I do wonder why, not gloat about or particularly ridicule. And this time they did, being unthinkably slow on the draw in saying Ryan and the other alleged Republicans aren't giving Trump enough support.

Herewith, the Understatement of 2017....

QuoteNow that Republicans control the White House, activists at the National Rifle Association's annual meetings said it's President Trump who could use new Republicans in Congress.

"I'm disappointed in Paul Ryan, period," said Rosemary Pereira of Florida. "He's not pushing hard enough for his party and doing his job — on everything."

"He's too slow. He's kind of, like, sitting back waiting for things to happen," said Ray Pereira, Rosemary's husband and a fellow retiree. "And I don't think that's his job. I think he needs to get out there and push and work for this administration."

Mrs. Pereira said Republicans in general aren't backing Mr. Trump as they should be.

The Detroit News, a supposedly conservative newspaper, rated Trump's first 100 days as a "C" grading (spending an amusing amount of criticism on Trump's accurate comments on a totally biased media). The inference, I  suppose, was that had he NOT told the truth about these nattering nabobs, they'd be more charitable to all his talk about belt-tightening.

When an election comes around, you seldom see the percentages any more, the total number of registered qualified voters versus the total number actually voting. You do see it by party in the percentage of those who voted...but not the dropouts.

Any would-be pol who asks WHY people no longer vote will soon find that honesty was the issue, and that voters believe that every politician without exception EVER is ALWAYS going to lie and steal what's not welded down.

They didn't adopt that attitude by accident. This Congress just proved it, letting in job-stealing outsiders while letting more innocent babies get butchered in the womb.

That couple summed up what is going on in Washington. Ryan and McConnell are aligned with the entire Washington establishment. They are scared to death Trump is going to blow up their big charade. So far it is backfiring on them. The folks outside of Washington are putting the blame where it should be - GOPe.

What, pray tell, is wrong with periodically cleaning house politically on both sides, if only so the new bunch of thieves have to start learning the ropes? Even a delay beats surrender.

Oh, we cleaned House alright, problem is, the shit got swept into the GOP.
We're not done by a long shot, and it's good to see the NRA taking a stand against the leftists in the party.

With Trump now NOT building a wall and keeping Bammycare, I don't trust him for a NY second.  What he says and what he actually does are definitely 2 different things.

Actually, I had expected the GOP to betray us, and on both counts. They don't WANT to be held accountable. They've been the loyal opposition so long they forgot how to lead, or where to find people who can. Ryan and McConnell both need curb-stomping, Drooler John McCain needs a rest home, and the bunch remaining could all use a true spine.

Betrayal. It's what this Congress DOES.

You, me and 90% of the nation want the wall, but neither party does, because both party's are funded by people that profit from cheap labor.
There won't be a completed wall, you can count on that. Bush got one, then they unfunded it the next year.

I totally agree the Washington establishment is totally against the wall. I also believe Trump sincerely desires to control the borders, but he is finding out he is not just fighting democrats. People throughout the country are paying attention and are seeing through the Washington BS. That is why Trump still has the support he has the establishment is taking the blame.

Yeah he is, they just happen to have an (R) next to their name.

Yes, Trump, despite being a lib himself, has the backing of the nation and it's hyper focused on the Establishment and just who will be targeted for removal.
