No interest in an infantile urinary contest, so we'll end here.
For the record, my information came from the Britannica as well as
a Dominican Nun cousin who works in the Vatican Press Office and
w/whom I communicate regularly.
Certainly, the fire 'might' have been set by space aliens from Planet Narnia
but I'll put my money on careless work crews dealing w/900 year old oak!!!
Quick search shows those space aliens from planet Narnia vandalized closes to 900 churches in france last year.

A little perspective.
Ground for Notre-Dame was broken in 1163 some 850 years ago.
The initial structure was of wood cut from the Forests of Champagne
and was a very large part of what has burned. Brick and stone
masonry came later, over the centuries.
Additionally, to avoid water damage to the interior, the roof was of lead.
Consequently the heat at the upper levels of the Cathedral had to be
staggering in summertime, inviting a fire.
Given that the renovation crews began work in the attics, it is virtually
certain that their action/inaction caused this fire.
Further, the Cathedral while severely damaged, is not destroyed and
remains structurally sound.
Walter, I sincerely hope that this turns out to be right.  When 9-11 occurred here in America, there were Muslims gleefully dancing in the streets, and we can clearly see the pictures of similar rejoicing in France, so it's hard not to speculate, PARTICULARLY given two realities:
1. There have been around a dozen other historic French churches recently burned or vandalized--statues of Jesus have even had one of their arms chopped off and reformulated into an obscene gesture--and of all coincidences, this is Easter week, AND, 2. before this fire was even out, they were already IMMEDIATELY declaring that there was no terrorism or arson--and even the French people aren't buying it.  There is absolutely no way that they could make such a proclamation about this on such short notice--it's just ludicrous.

So I really do hope you're right--but it's sort of like this: if you lived in a nice neighborhood where you never had to lock your doors, then a couple of scuzzy families with a passel of hoodlums moved in and your homes starting getting vandalized, what are you going to assume if you come home and find your windows broken out?  Going to assume that it was a fluke or a freak accident?  See, that's sort of the position we're in trying to blame careless construction workers--I'll try to keep an open mind, but the jury is going to be out on this until we learn more--REALLY learn more--and find out what actually happened.

Either he is a Muslim, and needs to be locked up. Or, he is an arsonist, and he needs to be locked up.

Macron wants to REBUILD ?

Ok, let me suggest "someone" enters the Louvre with a can of Gasoline, and does "something" to the Mona Lisa, reducing it to ashes.

The next day Macron says not to worry, we have just picked up a Canvas, and we hired a real good Artist, and he will paint it again.

Any attempt to rebuild, IMHO, is blasphemy.

If the "Crown of Thorns" had burned, were they just going to go into a local park and weave another one ?

Conserve what is left, sure. Even put up a new roof to preserve its use as a CHURCH.

But use any spare Euros to deport those responsible. ALL OF THEM.

Not trying to start any urinary contests, merely pointing out the stupidity of whatever officials or cabal of officials that immediately said it wasn't terrorism or arson TOO SOON without knowing all the fatcs which won't be known until physical examination by an arson specialist....IE long after the fire is over. But as a trained investigator with years and years of expertise under my belt and seen a torch job or two I realize why a PC beaucratic buffoon would make such a statement without knowing his ass from third base, hoping against hope that it wasn't our non ham eating, wipe your ass with sand in your left hand only friends from a giant cat litter box country who were so gleefully observing the raging fire as the photos show and apparently made some sort of threat to do same just days earlier...dont look for such examples on Cnn or any other Propaganda outlets and pay absolutely no attention to other fires in CHurchs recently....if Saint Peters goes up like a rocket Im sure those Aliens from Narnia are behind it.

And if there were no construction workers present According to the Dominican Sister then how can the fire be attributed to careless workmen?

Rush Limbaugh was excellent today, pointing out that the LYING MEDIA is coming to every conclusion - but the OBVIOUS ONE.

Sick Of Silence

Has there been any official conclusion that this was an accident?
With all these lawyers with cameras on the street i'm shocked we have so much crime in the world.

There is constitutional law and there is law and order. This challenge to law and order is always the start to loosing our constitutional rights.

I would have thought they would have used one of those toy drones

Not a bad suggestion!

Except that I believe the presence of scaffolding was no coincidence, and made it very easy for the arsonist to climb up and set the fire.

My gut says arson, but this wood might as well have been soaked in gasoline it was so dried out. It's just as likely an accident caused by some doofus worker. It wouldn't be the first time a renovation project caught fire.

That said, the authorities decided way too quickly that this was an accident, hell, there have been hundreds of church burning's and vandalization's all over France, so it's not like this is anything new.

99.9% of political violence comes from the left.

White leftist college professor Marc Lamparello was arrested with gasoline, lighter fluid and lighters outside of St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan.

Marc Lamparello has been identified as the 37-year-old man who was arrested by NYPD Counterterrorism officers after walking into the historic St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City with two gasoline cans just days after a fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Lamparello was taken into custody without incident at the seat of the Catholic Archdiocese of New York in midtown Manhattan Wednesday night, NBC New York reports.

The day before the fire...

ONE OF THREE women allegedly involved in a foiled plot in 2016 to blow up a car packed with gas canisters near the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris was today sentenced to eight years in prison by a French court for earlier offences.

Ines Madani, 22, was sentenced following a three-day trial during which she was accused of encouraging would-be jihadists to go to Syria and participate in attacks against France between March 2015 and June 2016.

She used Telegram – an encrypted messaging app widely used by jihadists to communicate.

Judge Isabelle Prevost-Desprez said that Madani was "recruited" by Oumar Diaw, also known as Abou Barrou, an influential jihadist of the Islamic State group.

She used different pseudonyms on social networks, pretending for example to be Abu Souleymane, a jihadist returned from Raqa to carry out attacks in France.

"You had some autonomy in the management of your personality.... Your determination marks your dangerousness," Prevost-Desprez said.
