Was just looking at census data from 1980-2010.

I don't believe our OWN population accounts for this growth.  It has to be from IMMIGRATION.  Who says we don't have enough?

1980 - up 11.4%
1990-  up 9.8%
2000 - up 13.2%
2010 - up 9.7%

So, each figure reflects the INCREASE in our population from 1970 forward.  Up over 42% increase in population.

These % aggregate 44%. If the current US population is
310 million, as reported; that implies a 1970 population
of 215 million for a population increase of 95 million over
45 years! These figures are dubious at best and
preposterous at worst; particularly when you factor in the
reality the several states have lost population reflected in
their lower EC vote!

Daisy, it's time that you learned to use quotes and links.
I won't mention this again, so if you need help, ask. There's no penalty for trying, however there is if you don't.

I'm not writing a term paper here.  I went to various places to look this up.  US Census Bureau, Wikipedia, etc.  I didn't know I had to "cite my sources" to post to a political discussion forum.  I'm with you, not against you!!

Sorry if my math is wrong!  Each figure (to my understanding) represented an increase from the 10 year period before it.

I was merely trying to illustrate that we have had PLENTY of immigration to this country.  I don't believe our existing population from each period increased on its own.

I heard a caller on Mark Levin's show last night about Hispanics and the census.  That's what triggered my looking up stuff.

You doubt that the US population had increased?  I am not sure what you find "preposterous" about the figures.

Do you think I am lying, making it up, got it wrong?  I am not sure what is not believable about the figures.

Go look at Wikipedia, for example,  They give all the figures in 10 year increments, showing the increases.

Always. Be prepared to back up any and all claims, it's what we demand of the left, so when posting an original thread/OP, it's best to reference data.
Also, FWIW, Wiki is not considered a source for anything political, EVER! Sadly, the left has politicized everything.

It's one thing if it's opinion, but when you're quoting data, it's better if others can see the data you're sourcing unless you're an expert in a given field, as many on this forum are.

And thank you for using the quote function.

Daisy,
I rechecked my Census figures, which are as follows:
US Population in 1970-----203,546,000
US Population in 2014-----318,392,000
That represents an increase of 115 million people or 56%!
You were correct and I was incorrect!
For that, I humbly apologize.

Well, that shows class.

Immigration isn't the problem. The majority of us come from immigrants. And we are thankful for that. The problem is untold amounts of undocumented people streaming in. It is that simple.

And I accept!  I just couldn't figure out what part you were disagreeing with!

My point is, we have had a LOT of immigration, as evidenced by the population increase.  I don't think the increase is anything but IMMIGRATION.  Citizens aren't having an increase in birth rates.  For me, I think we have had ENOUGH immigration.

Indeed, when you are undocumented and can't integrate then assimilation which national unity solely depends on is impossible.

Daisy the census data show's that it's roughly, between 11 and 16 MILLION a year, hemorrhaging across our southern border.

While it is true that yes, some cross from Canada southward too, it's no where near even a million which is/are/do.

Now ADD to that, our own progeny, add to that, the rate by which we ourselves the citizens of these States united procreate.

As anyone with two brain cells that still function can see, the  number quickly becomes, well what it is.

Un-sustainable.

As is the case with many issues pushed by the liberals and their agenda to destroy American independence and liberty.

Their own arguments, when examined, are shown by the facts to actually dispute the agenda they are pushing.

As is so typical when you look at the facts, such as in this case the numbers of criminal invaders, the facts actually support the position of those whom the libs are busily calling names, and slinging any mud they think will stick at.
