Interesting thought and I hope it doesn't qualify me for the Rubber room conspiracy theory cell but could the Commies be starting this crap to help their fellow commie in the White House?

They Know Hussein took a beating with the election and has a 39% popularity rating. "solving" or averting a Crisis with the NORKS would make people bow down and worship his greatness again and he could continue to "change" our country into something Mao and Stalin would be proud of.

New York Times, this morning....

WASHINGTON — President Obama and South Korea's president agreed Tuesday night to hold joint military exercises as a first response to North Korea's deadly shelling of a South Korean military installation, as both countries struggled for the second time this year to keep a North Korean provocation from escalating into war.

Members of the South Korean Red Cross in Inchon loaded supplies bound for Yeonpyeong Island on Wednesday after it was shelled by North Korea.

The exercise will include sending the aircraft carrier George Washington and a number of accompanying ships into the region, both to deter further attacks by the North and to signal to China that unless it reins in its unruly ally it will see an even larger American presence in the vicinity.

The decision came after Mr. Obama attended the end of an emergency session in the White House Situation Room and then emerged to call President Lee Myung-bak of South Korea to express American solidarity and talk about a coordinated response.

But as a former national security official who dealt frequently with North Korea in the Bush administration, Victor Cha, said just a few hours before the attack began, North Korea is "the land of lousy options."

Mr. Obama is once again forced to choose among unpalatable choices: responding with verbal condemnations and a modest tightening of sanctions, which has done little to halt new attacks; starting military exercises that are largely symbolic; or reacting strongly, which could risk a broad war in which South Korea's capital, Seoul, would be the first target.

The decision to send the aircraft carrier came as the South Korean military went into what it termed "crisis status." President Lee said he would order strikes on a North Korean base if there were indications of new attacks.

For the life of me, I can't see this as a political win for Hillary Clinton if the diplomatic end does succeed and further military action is prevented. Obama will grab all credit.

Then again, if it does go to reopening the Korean Conflict and breaking the 50+ year truce, does Obama have what it takes to turn this into HIS political victory?

Rhetorical, I know. Lousy options, lousy president.
I'm wondering if this was a test to see just how SK responds, what they did at the very moment, where they placed the majority of their troops.
This would tell NK just where to hit when they finally do attack.

First you probe, then you observe the response. So far, not enough has occurred to give the north that much info.
In the back of my mind, I'm still wondering what the real source of the contrail was off the west coast ...........

I did my tour on the Korean DMZ, it is a very tiny Country, take my word for it, they gleaned a lot of info with the help of Chinese satellites and telescopes.

IMO, they probably have observers (spies) south of the DMZ that constantly monitor/report military movements of SK troops. More to the point, they are probably profiling Barry's response more than the SK military.

I don't doubt that for a moment. We used to fly several thousand feet near the Z and take pictures, you could see just about all you needed to see from that point.

But I think you're right, this was equally a test of our (MIC) Marxist in charge.
They know as well as we do, he failed miserably.

All you have to do is look at his response to the sinking of the SK warship by the North. What was his response? NADA!

The Kenyan needs to scrap his "teleprompter diplomacy" foreign policy plan.

All of these "incidents" that have been going on.....................the NK/SK tensions, the "foiling" of various potential terrorist attacks on U.S. soil, etc.......................are all nothing more than "trial balloons" being used by our enemies to gauge what the Kenyan's reactions will be.

So far, our enemies have seen the Kenyan wagging his boney finger, and American citizens being full body scanned and patted down at airports.  I'm sure Hamas, Hezbollah, the Taliban, and Al Qaeda operatives are shaking in their sandals with fear.

It all comes down to whether you trust the Kenyan enough to NOT prepare for various "worst case scenarios".

I don't.

That makes no sense at all, the South was attacked for no reason whatsoever, and you want to cut and run?
SK, Japan, are both trading partners, if SK falls, Japan is in danger, and so are we.

If for no other reason, we need to keep SK for their strategic location, they are our buffer against China.

I think South Korea should have returned a brutal attack on North Korea.

I have heard it said that the United States still has troops stationed there to the tune of at least 50,000.Anyone care to comment on this?
