He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate
for the Socialist Party.
The Democrat Party has adopted our platform."

Well, we have been saying for years that the democrats have  been implementing socialist policies one small step at a time until they discovered Obama whom they saw as a the friendly face of socialism and let the mask drop. Voters like Obama but the democrats policies scared the hell out of them.

You give Bush too much credit. Obama was sort of black. If you did not support his you were a racist. If you did not support his policies you were a racist. It was all about color. And then there was his opponent in 2008 who was the end result of putting John Kasich, Glen Beck, Chuck Schumer, Lawrence O'Donnell, John Kerry and a bottle of vinegar  through a sausage grinder. In 2011 his opponent though nice exhibited as much conservatism as Obama himself and had as much fight in him as Mother Theresa when she is mediating.
