Title: NFL goes Political - I go away
Post by: Hoofer on August 15, 2017, 05:10:29 AM
Adding Seattle Seahawks to my list of teams I will not watch or listen to... Oakland Raiders are on there.

QuoteSeattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett sat during the national anthem before a preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon and he told reporters that he plans to protest all season.

Former teammate Marshawn Lynch sat during the national anthem before the Oakland Raiders' exhibition opener against the Arizona Cardinals.

Football is entertainment, an escape from the work-a-day-life.  If these people want to make a political statement, do it somewhere where I don't see it, or hear about it - 'cause I'm not going to sit there and listen to so Constitutionally IGNORANT Jock disrespecting the symbol of freedom which gives him/her the right to act ignorant.

Furthermore, if the NFL Players Association and NFL Team Owners aren't going to enforce their code of conduct on the field, I'm tuning them OUT.   Allowing protests onto the field of play, by athletes they're paying HUGE sums of money, is encouraging public disrespect of the National Anthem and the American values on which this country was founded.

I'll watch / listen to football.  I'll not give a minute to a stage of Constitutionally stupid sportscasters and players - they make their own choice, so do I... the gravy train is gonna end with the promotion of this anti-American crap.

I wonder how the NFL would react  if a few  players were to wear MAGA hats during the anthem. I guarantee you that would be stopped immediately. Its the reason i quit watching ESPN due to their constant crying  over castro lover kapernick not be signed.

More clubs should take the Jerry Jones approach. I paraphrase, but he said any Cowboy who does not stand for national anthem will not be a Cowboy any longer.

The area I come from we remove our hats for the Anthem.

I like this.

There should be a code of conduct for plays.  If I went politics I would turn on the news.

Never did like the taunting, in-yer-face, stuff - all done for the TV audience.   Then some knucklehead tackles a Running back after he gains 11 yards and starts jumping up and down like he just scored a touch down... sheeze...  You got that kind of *energy* after the play is over, why didn't you stop him for a loss???  What is this nonsense, the WWE of football???

Not much of a Cowboy fan, but when Jerry Jones said that, he sure got my respect as an owner.

The NFL already took a very powerful anti American stance on these protest of our Flag and Military. Now in return I take my very powerful stance against the NFL. I will no longer take part in my fantasy football league. I will not watch any NFL games until this stops. NCAA football will fill this void that the NFL has left behind.

Boycott the NFL.....I have a feeling this season you are going to see a lot of such boycotts as the various teams turn more "political"

The more I see & hear in the Sports media, the less interest I have in football overall.  My kids won't even watch it with me, unless it's too miserable to go outside, and they're utterly bored to death...  They'd rather play Scrabble, imagine that!  The NFL has allowed the rivalries to fade with Free-Agency and handling idiots & thugs with kid gloves.

...gee, sounds like the NBA and NFL are run by the same bunch!

I've completely abandoned all professional sports with the exception of the MMA, and even that will probably fall to the PC crowd.
