BTW, the next step is to change the primary system. NO MORE OPEN PRIMARIES! Open primaries are an invitation for the opposition party to screw with your party.

When 20% of Dems cross over and vote for Trump in the SC Primary, that is more than enough evidence of why primaries must be closed. That doesnt even take into account how many Dems crossed over and voted Trump in the open primaries in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

Which is just an invitation to vote before you even know anything about the candidate. It also puts too much power in the hands of the media, because a lot of those early votes go to the candidate getting the most coverage. Lastly, I like the Colorado system. Making people actually participate in the process, as opposed to pulling the lever for the last face you saw on the TV, seems a better idea. We're electing the POTUS, not "American Idol".

Yes, it is by design by GOPe. In their flawed belief they need to appeal to democrats has been a significant factor in Trump's support. History tells us these folks will disappear for the GE. The GOPe is not a fast learning entity. Conservatives handed them their ass in 2010 and 2014 and they still refuse to embrace what has proven to be a winner.

I'm not so sure it's grasping.  There's something odd about his sudden capitulation.  One thing Cruz isn't..is stupid.  He's a fighter and he may have something up his sleeve and Solar could be onto it.

I think you're both on to something.  Apart from Ted having 4 more years in the senate, he is a growing force to be reckoned with.  The Reagan coalition is growing.

Cruz stepped back, but did he step out? I don't think so and here's why.
Sure I'm an optimist, it's why I've always been so steadfast in my support of Cruz and still hold out hope until he says it's over. So lets assume Cruz crunched the numbers, looked at the media against Conservatism, and made a calculated move to suspend before it was too late.

A couple of weeks go by and the LSM goes after Trump as demonstrated by Taxed' thread.
Lets assume Trump is being exposed for the liar and fraud he is, his base begins to lose faith in the guy because they realize they'd been played, and now support for Cruz begins in a ground swell that overshadows Trump that people finally begin to take Cruz seriously.

I'm not saying this is inevitable, but why else would Ted suspend his campaign when it's no guarantee that Trump can get 1237?

I just said basically the same thing in another thread.  This is a good attempt at a Hail Mary pass. It might work.

WillCruz's name still be on the ballot in the remaining states. And will the Trump supporters show up to vote if they believe their boy has already won?

It doesn't matter. Rules can be changed before the convention. 1237 never has meant squat. I think our mission now is to sit back and let Trump and his Trumpsters gloat for a bit and just wait for Trump to self destruct when the MSM turns the attack on him.

I think mdgiles was hinting at maybe a rop-a-dope (Ha, that's a good one) strategy on the trump votors....maybe suppressing the turnout?

Trump has never had a ground game, and depends on the media. And if he believes he's already won , he won't even bother to show up in California. I wonder if the media will turn on him now or wait until he's secured the nomination?

They will start turning right away, they have to secure his downfall and make him unappealing (like he isn't already to clear minded folks) in order for Clintons numbers to continue to go up. they both have historic unlikable numbers, pretty sad this election cycle hinges on who is the best of the worst

I agree this should be stopped. In an open primary the opposition party can have their people vote for a candidate who cannot win the general election.  This might have happened.  Time will tell.

But my most serious concern is Hillary Clinton nominating the next Supreme Court Justice to replace Justice Scalia.  Also, a couple of the others will soon be retiring, i.e. Ruth Bader Ginsberg who can hardly dodder into the building.  These nominees, if confirmed, will change the direction of this country for decades to come.  We will see the end of the First and Second Amendments.  Hillary Clinton attended a meeting in Istanbul as Secretary of State, the subject of which was outlawing criticism of Islam.  Even now our religions freedoms are taken away to make way for the LGBT folks.  I am not religious, but I respect the First Amendment's guarantee of Freedom of Religion as well as Freedom from Religion.  Hillary Clinton has said that she admires what Australia did about guns--they confiscated them.  I believe our Forefathers wrote "Keep and bear arms" specifically for the populace to have some means of defending itself against a renegade government.  Both of these Amendments will be changed if not abolished if Hillary Clinton becomes president.

While Donald Trump most certainly was not my first choice, it appears that he will be the Republican nominee.  We know little about who he would appoint to be a Supreme, maybe his sister who is a judge, who knows?  But I know for sure Clinton's intentions and I would not vote for her under any circumstances.  I know the saying that it is "Better to deal with the devil you know than the devil you don't know" but in this case, the devil I know would be so devastating to this country that I will vote for Trump even though he has not made a number of things clear.  Maybe he never will until he does something atrocious. But I will wait.

A number of you won't like what I said, but we each have one vote and one vote only. I will not waste my on Hillary Clinton nor will I waste it by not voting at all.  This is our last chance to maybe save our country.  Trump may not save the country, but it is for sure that Hillary Clinton will not.

My guess is the media will wait until hillery has her nomination wrapped up, but that is assuming the media would rather have trump than sanders. I just can not see the media getting excited over the bern, stupid is one thing but stupid and boring is another.

I modestly submit that under a Sanders administration the socialists would put clamps on U.S. media in fullest agreement with the foreigners who will be running the Internet in the future. (It won't be U.S. any more. Thanks, Hussein!)

Seriously --- expect censorship regarding Islamic animals committing unthinkable atrocities in the name of their false god, the running dog Allah, or his false prophet, the pedophile and caravan-robbing running dog Muhammed, may the piss of ten thousand camels pour forever down both their diseased throats.

Christianity? Welcome to the Reverse Crusades, raghead killers burning our churches and raping our women. IT IS NOW HAPPENING IN AMERICA.

Under Sanders, the media will write as it is told or that urinalist is flushed as fast as yesterday's non-person.
