Title: New Conservative Search Engine - Gowiki
Post by: Gowiki on August 08, 2018, 10:14:50 AM
Hello everyone:

We are currently working on a new conservative search engine called Gowiki (https://www.gowiki.com).

We need help to buy more servers as we currently only have a limited number of pages in our index.

People can donate directly from our website.

Please spread the word!

Thanks

Just curious, why did you choose a name with Wiki in it? Wiki isn't exactly the paragon of truth.

Everyone does it. it is the same thing as the media putting the word "gate" after every supposed scandal.

The term wiki is originally from Hawaii and means 'quick'.

You could see our name as meaning 'go quick' as in get your results quickly.

Our name has nothing to do with wikipedia (we're not fans of their liberal bias either).

Cool! You should actually state that on your page.
I doubt many even know this, but II am certain the majority equate it to leftist bias.

Thanks for the comment.

We will update our FAQs page to explain the meaning of our name so that there is no confusion.

Another definition. The way it is used today, 'wiki' can also mean an online collection of knowledge, sorta like an online encyclopedia, which is where wikipedia got its name. Most specific topics have a related 'wiki'.

For instance Conservapedia is technically a 'wiki'.
Alot of fictional worlds have a 'wiki', like there is a lord of the rings 'wiki' called One Wiki to Rule Them All, which is an online encyclopedia of LotR stuff. Or a Star wars 'wiki' called Wookiepedia, for all things Star Wars.

So u can see how 'wiki' can also just mean 'online information center'

Thank you - we hope to become the go to search engine for conservatives.

We are working on Gowiki in order to offer a conservative alternative to the liberal search engines and fight their control over online search.

We only have a limited number of pages in our index but will be adding more as we get additional servers.

Please feel free to post any questions or comments you may have.

Is it a directory more than a search engine?

How do you determine if a source is conservative?

You cannot determine the source of all the information on the web.

What makes Gowiki conservative are the values and principles we believe in. You can take a look at the 'About' link from our home page.

Our goal is to fight liberal control over online search.

Here's a thought, how about you post the pertinent parts and let us decide.
You are after all, here as a courtesy of the board. We, as a rule, do not allow advertising, as you may have noticed. If we deem your site worthy, we'll even link to it for search, so convince us of your claims.

OK, that's a good start, but aside from privacy, what makes it a Conservative search engine, as say, google's suppression of Conservative content?
How does your algorithm differ in retrieving pages?

We are focusing on presenting news from the more conservative or at least neutral sources (such as Fox News, Free Beacon, Wash. Times, Lifezette, Newsmax ... will be adding more) and will not be presenting news or content which we know are from liberal propaganda sources (you know which ones). We are happy to add the smaller and overlooked conservative news providers on our news page if they have quality content.

Another important point is to give an alternative to conservatives who do not want to support the liberal search engines as they fund liberal causes. By using a liberal search engine, conservatives end up indirectly funding liberalism as they will eventually click on an ad and therefore make money for those search engines.

Gowiki is the conservative response to the control liberals over online search. We are still in development and currently only have a small portion of the web in our index but want to eventually become the go-to search engine for conservatives and others who do not support liberalism.

Let me know if you need more information.

Do you have a feed API or some syndication?

The stories on our news page are obtained by reading the RSS feeds of select news providers. We will be adding more news providers in the future.

We do not have an outbound feed per se but you can see the latest 100 stories that we picked up (latest news) on our news page at https://www.gowiki.com/news
