This past summer, I engaged my good friend/neighbor and his wife in discussions of political issues. My neighbor had not voted in over twenty years and his wife had NEVER voted in her life. (Age around 60.) They got excited about the opportunity to actually "do something" about the mess we're obviously in, but they had no idea how to even register to vote. I went to the local election board's website, downloaded the forms, addressed two envelopes, stuck stamps on 'em, and walked 'em over there for signatures.

On Election Day, we all rode together to the township house and cast our votes. I won't soon forget the eager excitement on their faces. When the returns came in and it was clear that conservatives and Tea Partiers virtually swept the state, we all celebrated together. My neighbor and I are still "arguing" whether it was his vote or mine that put the different candidates over the top.

I won't say that last Election Day was better than Thanksgiving... but it was close.

My goal for next year is to get at least two more folks registered to vote.

Fantastic story...and if they get two more, and then they get two, more.....  Who knows where we could take the nation.  Thanks for being such a good neighbor and American. 8) :) :)

Aw, shucks, ma'am. I was just doin' my duty.

If you think about it, by doing just what I did, and repeating it year after year, we could completely obliterate the efforts of ACORN and similar organizations.
