First let me preface this with the fact this is MY field of Expertise, the first similar operation I took part in was back in about 1989 involving a joint task force with two of my Detectives from the Washington DC metropolitan police, Virginia State Police, Md State Police and working under the Umbrella of the ATF...back in the day when they had decent agents who focused on real criminals instead of the administrative wonks they became under Bill Clinton.

The operation was called "trigger lock" it was a response to the overwhelming number of Homicides commited by warring faction's of
Rastafarian posses, local hoodlums, the New York and Baltimore drug crews all killing each other as well as innocent bystanders over DC's lucrative drug peddling turf. Dc set records 4 years in a row BTW...much the same Mexico did with 50K dead.

The source of those guns was "straw" purchaces they (particularly the Rasty's) would make in Virginia gun shops...they would use some local
old retired guy...usually an old pensioner drunk...give him a few hundred bucks and tell him to buy guns to order, drive him to the gun shop, wait outside until the deal was over, get possession of the guns and drive back into DC and kill somebody with them.

We set up the operation much the same as the operation the BUSH admin set up to MONITOR the sales targeting key suspects, following them back into DC and jumping them as soon as they crossed the DC line with a firearm (which was illegal to have in DC at the time) before they had a chance to hide it or use it.

AT NO TIME were the detectives to let the suspects out of sight once they had a firearm (or ammo)in their possession at no time were they to allow the suspect to enter a building or apartment complex with a firearm (too hard to find which building the kept it in) AT NO TIME were we to let any guns "walk" in other words lose contact with the gun adn see where it would turn up later...STRICK GUIDELINES from both the ATF my Superiors and more Importantly THE US ATTORNEY's OFFICE.

The reason was simple, if the firearm was used to kill somebody

Now that sounds a lot like the Bush Admin's Operation Wide receiver...same thing, target suspects follow them into Mexico (another Nation) get the police on that end to recover the weapon before it could be used. In fact our operation in 1989 may have even been used for a model...for what it's worth I know the ATF did similar ops in other cities and US state in high crime areas with source gun states close by...Florida/Georgia for example.

Now how could any REASONABLE person compare those two operations
with the slip shod cluster fk involving the Obamao regime allowing guns to walk let the bad guns get them and see where they turn up later....oh
they were used to kill a US Border agent...oh THATS where they went...
