Looks like kids today are dumping news like CNN altogether.

Teens would rather keep up on current events through YouTube and other social media platforms instead of news agencies, a new survey found.

Over half of the 1,000 teens who responded to the poll, sponsored by SurveyMonkey and the media advocacy non-profit Common Sense Media, said they prefer YouTube to established news outlets, according to USA Today. Given recent news about how YouTube promotes conspiracy theories and other misinformation, the results are an unfortunate glimpse of the future of media literacy.

Media Influencers
Of the teens who go to social media for news, about 60 percent specifically relied on celebrities or other influencers to tell them what's been going on, according to the poll. They also clarified that they understood that their sources of news were less reliable than established media.

"We don't necessarily have a great sense of whether those influencers or celebrities have standards and ethics, or what kind of disclosures they're making," Michael Robb, senior director of research at Common Sense, told USA Today. "Are they objective sources or not? How trustworthy is their research? There's a whole host of things that you would need to understand to know whether something is more legitimate. I'm not sure that is clear when you're getting it from a celebrity, influencer or personality.

Going to (Liberal) celebrities for news is just as bad as going to CNN, MSNBC, and the like.

That was my first thought as well, but studies show kids aren't really tuning into network produced video, rather the likes of Crowders and the Joe Rogans and other rightwing sources, because in their view, they aren't seeing it on TV and these guys are fresh, funny and informative.

Crowder and Rogan are not celebrities, they are independent media. Even though Ben Shapiro is a major figure in independent media, he is mainly a pundit because he goes on network political shows to argue with the lefties as well as speaks at college campuses.

Okay. I agree with the kids. I don't trust Fox either for half the day and only for a few hours on the weekends.
CNN and MSNBC do not care about the revenues. They are not giving the people what they want. They are spewing propaganda to give their leftist bosses what they want. FOX under the new leadership is tolerating the Conservatives left and have put people like Chris Wallace and Shepard Smith in charge of the leadership positions for the news content. The Murdoch kids want to be accepted by the liberals in NYC. They should move FOX to Texas or FL
Radio is the more dependable entertaining source for real Conservatives despsite the fakes like Alex Jones and Mike Gallagher who will spew anything ro sell their goods, vacations and natural remedies.
I find it odd that RT is more pro-American and Conservative than MSNBC now nut look at all the neocons MSNBC recruited from the Bush era. The talking heads go from CNN to FOX and are all of a sudden not flaming liberals and then they go from FOX to CNN and suddenly become haters of Conservatism. Almost the entire group are mercenaries and most of them deserve no respect.

When they talk about youtube celebrities, they're talking about "youtube Influencers". Yeah, I know, the term is akin to "Sport Heroes" and "Porn Stars", there is no such thing, they are a creation, but some of these youtubers have a huge following, far more than late night so called "Comedians".

Though this is a leftist Variety article, they do get it.

I think of YouTube'rs as people there for entertainment, such as "Hoovies Garage" (buys hooptie cars) or "Strictly Dumpling" (American born Asian guy who looks like a young Jackie Chan who goes to Asia to eat noodles).
