Looks Like Socialists Won South Korea Election
« on: May 09, 2017, 02:10:24 PM »
Don't let the term Conservative here fool ya. An SK conservative is closer to a hardline socialist, while the winner, a liberal, is just an appeasing squishy socialist, closer to that of a Fabian Socialist.

I posted this because it puts a crimp in Trump's plans of keeping a THAAD anti missile system on the SK DMZ, as well as using the threat of SK going nuclear, neither of which will be welcomed by the new socialist President.
But he still has Japan as a card yet to be played, as well as Guam.

SEOUL (Reuters) – Liberal politician Moon Jae-in won South Korea's presidential election on Tuesday, an exit poll showed, an expected victory that would end nearly a decade of conservative rule and bring a more conciliatory approach toward North Korea.

A decisive win for Moon would end months of political turmoil that led to parliament's impeachment of conservative former President Park Geun-hye over an extensive corruption scandal.

The Constitutional Court upheld the impeachment in March, making Park the first democratically elected leader in South Korea to be removed from office and triggering a snap election to choose her successor.

Wearing a dark blue suit and blue tie, Moon was seen shaking hands with supporters and party officials and smiling on his way to a meeting of his Democratic Party after the exit poll results were announced.

"We will need to calmly wait and see as this was just exit polls," he told party members. "But if things go on this way and we win, today’s victory is thanks to sheer desperation of the people who wanted a regime change."

"We will accomplish the two tasks given to us, reform and national unity that the people of this country desire."

The exit poll by South Korea's three biggest broadcasters showed Moon, 64, capturing 41.4 percent of the votes in a field of 13 candidates. Official results were expected in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

Former prosecutor Hong Joon-pyo was second with 23.3 percent of the votes and centrist candidate Ahn Cheol-soo had 21.1 percent. Definitive official results were expected early on Wednesday. A plurality is enough for victory.

"If exit polls are true, I will accept the results and just be satisfied with the fact that the Liberty Korea Party will be restored," a downbeat-looking Hong told members of his conservative party.

Ahn said he would "humbly accept" the result.

It's no different than most places, half love us, the other half are leftists that want our money.
You can expect to see our popularity drop with the new administration in power because they know if they can raise the ire of the populace, they can milk us for more freebies, problem is, Trump won't play that shit because he knows what they're up to, it is after all, right out of the leftist playbook. RINO would simply fold because of business interests and do as SK demands, Trump sees it a bit differently I suspect.

Trump knows the first thing they'll do is demand we back off of the little dictator, but I guarantee you, behind the scenes, Trump will tell them exactly what you said: " "We're outta here, you idiots want us gone, go arm yourselves and defend miserable"
Of course, they'll panic and back way off, but Trump won't be able to get them to go along with strong-arming the little fat fuck.
The problem is, SK has family members in NK, and they know Kim has no problem starving them and using them as pawns, it's a really touchy situation to deal with.

I could go on for pages, but I think that kind of scratches the surface. To be quite honest, I believe NK will fall on its own in a decade and start joining the rest of the world, Chinese Communist style.
Yeah, I expect revolution and the military will split loyalties.

Without us, SK would most certainly fall to NK/China, Japan would then be threatened by China, and our trade routes would be in danger as well.
I don't know the answer, but our presence keeps China at bay and I'd like to see us there keeping pressure on the little fat fuck for the day NK dissolves.

Following that thought, China is having its own problems now that the Japanese Self Defense Forces (JSDF) is allowed to expand activities beyond Japan itself. Japanese defense spending is way up and they also help the U.S.  economy buying a variety of planes and weapons (or building them, as with the F-35, for their use and for resale to other Pacific area nations on our OK list).

Related: once reunification occurs, will the new Korea be strong enough to withstand China? And what will the former South Korea do with a vast military like the Kim clan created? Laying THOSE people off will be a problem.

China knows Trump can still play the Japan nuke card, though I don't know how that would play domestically, seeing how we once nuked Japan.
But as to reunification of the two Koreas, I suspect an uneasy transition for the two cultures, but as to Kim's so called military, there'll probably be a flood of cheap Chinese AK style rifles because ten bucks American could feed a NK for nearly a year.
Most of NK's weaponry comes from WWII/Korean war era, most are simply outdated and would be considered cheap surplus on the open mkt.

His nuke program only dates back to Clinton, so it's safe to say it's still in its infancy. The real threat would be over NK's breakup like we saw with the USSR and its nukes heading for the open mkt, though nowhere near the number we secured from the USSR.

At their end they'd be lucky to get a dollar for one gun. At our end it's arms for the gangbangers, at In-and-Out Burger prices.

And yet the Democrats tell us that nukes are ALWAYS safe in the hands of people like Kim!

Iran and Pakistan are both suspects here, wouldn't you say? I doubt the Chinese would be stupid enough to let Fat Boy have any real weaponry but instead force him to be a big boy and build his own...slowwwwwwwly.

Both Iran and Pakistan have their own nuke programs and more than likely where NK got much of their knowledge for making a bomb.

You're probably more advanced than NK with that!   They could be trying to load WIN 3.1...!

Back to Solar's point, "...I don't know the answer, but our presence keeps China at bay...." - you're admitting WE'RE STUCK in South Korea.

I cannot imagine a solution without a military conflict.  Worse thought than that, NK is probably the Chinese proving ground for weapon development & deployment - a terrible position for the US and SK.  At least WE CARE about people - China & NK treat animals better than people.   I doubt they'd care if 20,000 were killed or died from radiation poisoning - China even less - let the peninsula be turned into a radioactive dump, nobody would dare cross it to get to China.

Solar, can you come up with another scenario to end this?

Yep, as I said earlier, China can't risk the US allowing Japan the nuke, this scares the shit out of them because they've dealt with the Japanese over centuries, and the Japs proved to be brutal.
But the biggest reason there won't be an actual war involving China, is they have no military, seriously, they may have millions of expendable fodder in the way of human sacrifices, they just don't have a well trained military, the last conflict China had was Tiananmen Square against college students.
It will more than likely be another 20 years before China can actually equip a military fighting force, but that's also dependent upon their economy, China is having internal issues as well, from youth rebellions to competition abroad, the other is energy, they need to buy abroad, this is why they are trying to establish new connections, like the Panama canal, energy for them, is literally half way around the world.

Sure, China has made amazing advances, but its tech is all based on free world concepts, China hasn't invented a thing in centuries.
But all that aside, we have a well trained and tested military, the strongest the world has ever seen, by a factor of 20 over the strongest enemy.
Nah, I don't worry about war with China, not in my lifetime, anyway.

OK - not a direct war with China, not what I had in mind...

How do you see the North Korean situation playing out?   I see the least likelyhood of Kim J.A. slowly backing down.

There is another scenario - perish the thought, those 2 satellites on a polar orbit, are EMP devices.
