We are calling #KS04 for Ron Estes. Sedgwick keeps falling for Thompson. No ground to make it up.

What percentage?
He won by 8.3%.
Estes won #KS04 by a wider margin than Brownback in 14, but by less than a third of Trump's in 2016.
All precincts reported, Estes wins by 8.3%, carries #KS04 by 9400 votes.

And the media said otherwise. I did not see that coming.

Let me guess, this will somehow show a landslide in 18 for the dems, and pelosi gets her gavel back.

Pompeo won with 61% in 2016 so there was alot  of slippage. I hope reps take this warning and get tax cuts done fast. If they dont then 2018 isnt going to be good.

I'm with you with the sky is falling crap.

I don't get it Hillary was going to slaughter Trump by 10 percentage points and this guys wins by 8 percentage points and it's going to be a blood bath in 2018 for the republicans....lol

What am I missing here.

I'm re-posted this (with some addition) from the "Broke Dim" thread since it fits better here - won't make it a habit ... was too late to delete from that thread.

Broken or not, the Dims are edging back into position. Not due to their competence, but just because voters aren't comfortable with the alternative. Trump and the RINO Pubs aren't a fan favorite. I'm not sure that the voters hearts are where they should be with true conservatives either. I believe that about half the voters want more stability and economic result while the other half are threatened by the loss of handouts and their government nanny. Obviously, the swing voters control the future elections - but what will take their hearts and minds? I'm not sure.

I'm thinking about forming a  poll to get some first hand data because I don't trust what's being presented by the outlets. I don't think anyone is listening let alone asking the right questions from a conservative's viewpoint.

The recent election in Kansas indicates the current perception - a red state that just showed a lot of blue. The Pubs need to get on-key and the voters need to feel it if we're to hold the majority for Trump's term. The fact that the Dims are so broken is apparently not enough. Recently (like in the last General election), voters are voting against those who are unethical or not keeping their promises - and not for anyone. Many shared that sentiment and many here voted for If one or the other proves faithful (can balance the promises with what is actually doable), the leadership will continue to oscillate.

You consider 2% slippage? I call that within the margin of error.

For starters, (perception), the economy needs to get rolling QUICKLY, and Trump needs to keep talking up the good times are back again.

If this fizzles...  the republicans will be handing the gavel back to Pelosi.

Ewww. You had to bring her up. Maybe Trump can send Pelosi as ambassador to Syria. Or NK. Stationed there to observe. Many in her own party would probably welcome it.

Maybe Pelosi could become a North Korean travel agent, "Trips to Paradise!  Once you get there, you'll never come back!!!" - and California would be vacated of all the Socialist loving ...
Wow!   Just imagine walking down the streets of San Francisco, deserted, "For Sale - Reduced" signs everywhere.  Bleach the city, and ... meh, I know, just dreaming.

Are you cautiously, guardedly, optimistic with the Ron Estes win, or ready to ring the alarm?   I don't know Kansas at all, candidates or climate.

Two things here, one is he's a lousy candidate, and two, the Dim running was a quality candidate, so in truth, nothing changed as to use as a barometric predictor of the future.
Truth is, the Dim candidate would have won if not for the fact, the Dim party is despised by the base they lied to, who refuse to back their candidates any longer.
