Now here is another attempt at levity.

It's over.

Doctor to patient, then you need to find a new doctor.

Just imagine, here. You've just put yourself into debt for about ten extra years of hugely-expensive education, and if you're average you can't start your own private practice but can (barely) afford to become a partner in an established clinic.

The others in your clinic won't buck Uncle Sam. The first whiff they catch that they might lose their licenses and permits, any maverick trying to sidestep the rules will be brought up short and told to heel. Obamacare will be catastrophic on the clinic as it is, they do NOT need to defend against federal snoopers.

If anything it's...

Doctor to patient: our clinic's written practice is to follow all state and federal laws. Now from the top, please fill in the following questions....

What else ya gonna do? It's not like the rules-breakers are going to run ads for your kind of patient.

I used to go into a doctor and just give my name and age.  Now I go in 45 min before appointments and fill out a 10 page report on myself.  I now have to sign a 2 page medical release just to get my own blood work health information if I take it home and put it in my file.

Not quite so bad for myself. The one recurring appointment I do have is handled by people who now know me on sight and do trust me to update their data if it changes. My GP requires a sign-off, but they print extras at no charge of any report they have. It's the corporate hospital clowns running the local hospital, they're the paper-crazy loons in need of a solid head-smacking.

Speaking of we the sheeple, when my father went into his terminal illness, my "sheeple" mother (who trusted doctors like some people worship the Pope) asked this same hospital to transfer him to Ann Arbor, and instead they put him in another of their own places, in Toledo, where he died. That happened before Obamacare. I can easily see this repeating for other families, as steadily-decreasing ethical standards kick in, regarding euthanasia of our elderly.
